Shubh: [00:00:00] Welcome to season two, episode three of Your Business is on the Line, Canada's number one business comedy podcast. The podcast where serious people come on and pitch unserious business ideas. I'm here with co-host Philip Burns. Hello. Riding a, a recent high, although we'll get into that here in a second, and, uh, my friend, our friend now, Brooke Hann, CEO Flockler, is returning for her second time.

Philippe: Welcome back.

Brooke: I am just... You guys have really grown up.

Shubh: Yeah. Look at

Philippe: this space, right?

Shubh: This

Brooke: is- Does this

Shubh: feel... You remember last time we basically all jumped into effectively what was a closet-

Brooke: A sweaty

Shubh: closet ... with garbage on the floor?

Brooke: Yep.

Shubh: Does this [00:01:00] feel better or worse than that?

Brooke: I feel like I'm on a talk show.

Shubh: You are on a talk show.

Brooke: Oh. I feel like I'm on a well-known international talk show.

Shubh: Yeah. We are- You are on a

Brooke: well-known international- Right. So-

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: Tell her about our South Korea numbers.

Shubh: We get, we got, we got numbers in Asia.

Brooke: How many?

Shubh: I don't wanna get into it.

Brooke: It's neither here

Shubh: nor there. I learned from the Netflix people you're not supposed to tell people exactly how many numbers.

Philippe: Oh, I see.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: I have an idea right off the bat.

Shubh: Can I hold on for a sec? Sure. I just wanna say we are at Red Mile Records, the studio. Alec, Matt. Uh, last time Matt, uh, promised us we would never pay, Philip.

Philippe: Okay.

Shubh: And then, um, Alec, uh, told me the prices were going up. Feels like- From zero or from- ... the two co- the two guys might not be on the same page.

Yeah, I... Have you guys ever had, like, a, like, a facilitator come in to help with some of those? Brooke, uh, you said you have an idea right off the hop.

Brooke: I do. [00:02:00]

Shubh: Can... But I... Do you wanna jump right into it or do we wanna summarize your idea from last time and how good it was?

Brooke: No, I think we're just, just a quick Coles Notes on- Okay.

Yeah ... my idea, which is- Give us a little idea ... that I love my light bulb. Yeah. Uh, thank you.

Shubh: Oh, yes. She finally got her light bulb.

Brooke: Yeah. Although- That's nice ... I think I, the re- the remote might need batteries, so we have not explored that yet. Did

Shubh: you take the little plastic tab out?

Brooke: Nope. That will be the next step that I take.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: That's not my idea. My idea is I would like a T-shirt next.

Shubh: Whoa. Okay. Yeah.

Brooke: Or a

Shubh: toque. So, uh, I was just, uh, looking into merch, because we just did a little bit of merch for Sean Mines' company. We did some hats. So- I did not receive mine yet You think

Brooke: shirts

Shubh: or hats?

Brooke: Not hats, no.

Shubh: Yeah, neither of you are hat wearers.

Philippe: I, I'm a, I've, I've become a bit more of a hat wearer. You might

Shubh: wear a hat?

Philippe: As I've

Brooke: been trying to grow my hair out. I have a very small head. I- if you were ordering children's sizes of hats, I'm in. Or a toque that I can roll up. Yeah. But besides that, I think, like- I'd, I like a shirt or a zip-up hoodie If you got me- [00:03:00] That's getting pricey, but

like a

Shubh: pullover? Sure. I don't, I can't afford

Philippe: a pullover. You should get me, if you got me like a dad hat with a light bulb on the front and at the back it said, "Your business is on the line"-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Philippe: that would be so sick. What's

Shubh: a dad hat?

Brooke: Yeah, I don't know that.

Philippe: A dad hat is, um, it's like a baseball cap.

Shubh: Oh.

Brooke: So-

Shubh: I like a trucker hat.

So anything I do- Oof ... is trucker

Brooke: hats. A dad hat is a baseball hat. What? This... Okay.

Shubh: Yeah. Uh, okay, so your idea is we should get you merch.

Brooke: Yes.

Shubh: Okay.

Brooke: Thank you, and that wraps things up. So if I could just- ... get my rating.

Shubh: I give that rating 100.

Brooke: Perfect.

Shubh: Um- We're done ... this is your second time on the pod. Yes. The first time you were on the podcast, I think it's, Philippe, uh, fair to say that Brooke was the most prepared with a business idea of anyone we've had.

Philippe: That's right.

Shubh: The bike wash.

Philippe: The bike wash was such a good idea.

Shubh: You guys didn't make it, though.

Brooke: Yet.

Shubh: I heard Chris, I heard Chris went back to work, and so- He did ... he's not gonna have as much time for bike washing.

Brooke: Yeah.

Philippe: I mean- Have you, did you look into it further? [00:04:00] Did anything come out of that idea?

Brooke: No, because the business I run got acquired, and we went on to two months sabbatical.

Life's been busy, but- Whoa ... I still dream of it. That

Shubh: kind of sounds like life's been the opposite of busy- ... if you took a two or three mon- ... a month and a half sa- sabbatical.

Philippe: Where did you go on your sabbatical?

Brooke: We went, where did we not go? We went to Portugal, Poland, Denmark, Austria. Italy, Spain

Shubh: I mean, so there was a lot of places you didn't go.

At least, like, 150 countries.

Philippe: Yeah,

Shubh: I think you only named, like, six or seven countries there. I think-

Brooke: That was just a sample.

Shubh: You got a- you got another 192 in the can.

Brooke: We spent three hours at each country. We moved on very quickly. Yeah.

Shubh: Ah, that sounds like an awesome trip. Kids, kids liked it, too?

Brooke: Yeah, I think so.

Yeah. I mean, you know, they've got very different personalities. Like, our little guy's like, "Everything's amazing" and if you ask- Yeah ... our daughter, it's like, if you're like, "Oh, how was Europe?" She'd be like, "Well, it was very hot, and also there were bugs, and also I had to walk places" Right ... and you'd be, like, leaving that conversation- Sounds like you got a-

feeling like ... you got

Shubh: a CEO and a [00:05:00] COO there. You know? The CEO's like, "Hey, we're crushing it." The COO's like, "Uh, we haven't been paid in months." Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Brooke: Okay. We do this little thing, um, in our family called rose, bud, thorn, which is, like, you say to

Shubh: the

Brooke: kids, like-

Shubh: Rose, bud, thorn ...

Brooke: yeah. What- Three different things

three different things. Yeah. So what's the thing that was great about your day, what's the thing you're looking forward to, and then what's the thing that was maybe not

Shubh: so good. Oh, can we maybe, can we try a, a new segment right now?

Brooke: Yes.

Shubh: Philippe, uh, give us your rose, bud, and thorn since, uh, for the last week.

Philippe: For the last week. Well, um, uh, uh, rose, w- I was just at, uh, my parents' cabin again. I was, uh- Ooh ... in, like, the woods, which was very nice.

Shubh: Oh,

nice.

Philippe: Bud is, is we tried this new show concept called, uh, Tech Thursday.

Shubh: Which worked very well, I will say.

Philippe: It was a ton of fun. Live. I was there. Live tech news. Yeah. Uh, very excited for where it could go.

Thorn, found out today the audio was corrupted, which now I feel so much more sympathy for you, [00:06:00] Shubh- ... for what you've had to do with this podcast. Um, and so I'm just waiting for the guy to send us the what remains of the audio so we can see if we can splice- Yeah ... something together.

Shubh: I got a lot of questions.

When he says corrupted, does he mean it didn't sound good?

Philippe: Um-

Shubh: Or does he mean he forgot to hit record?

Philippe: He, it was recorded, but- Yeah ... it seems to jump around. Like, the audio is recorded in, like, two-minute clips, and then, like, a bunch is missing in between, and then there is audio recording from, like, a camera-

Shubh: Huh

Philippe: but it's pretty shitty. Wow. So

Shubh: we're trying to- AI

Brooke: can fix that.

Shubh: We, we can

Philippe: clean- I know ... we

Shubh: can clean that up.

Philippe: I think we can clean that up, too. I think this guy, uh, I don't know what's going on. I think I'm gonna be-

Shubh: Should I just

Philippe: take over- ... up in his miniature- ... as your producer- ...

Shubh: producer ... of the show? Yeah.

Philippe: Yeah, feel free to... Yeah. Please.

Brooke: My business idea is actually... It's really funny. It's actually- This- ... just to use AI to streamline, uh, audio recordings.

Shubh: Yeah. Wow. As, as a guy- So you probably don't sound so- ... who has spent, uh, three [00:07:00] billion hours on audio fixes this year, I can tell you that AI definitely helps, but it also doesn't help I just noticed today I had to re-release the episode we released on Sunday 'cause the AI studio sound clipped a bunch of the opening music, so it sounded like the trumpet was...

had a big hole in the side.

Philippe: The mouth trumpet?

Shubh: Well, that was the proper trumpet. Oh,

Philippe: that was the real

Shubh: trumpet. Okay. Um, okay. Well, other than the audio not going well, you had this big show last week, you and Mark Le Dain- Yeah ... who gets mentioned, uh, more than anyone else in the world on this podcast. Uh, I thought it was great.

I sent you guy- I did send you guys some notes though. Yeah. 'Cause, you know- That's right ... I like to, you know, provide feedback.

Philippe: But what was the positive feedback? 'Cause that's the only feedback I care about.

Shubh: Yeah, I think you probably just only... I gave you some sandwich feedback. Right. I opened positive, gave you some improvements, then hit you with the positive.

Yeah. So you just heard the positive. The positives were the, the, the, the in... people dropping in, Sandy and [00:08:00] Nick, like, that format worked really, really well, I think.

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: You guys had some good jokes in there that worked well. The vibes in the room were really good. Those are all, all the good... That was all good parts.

Brooke wasn't there. Brooke

Brooke: wasn't there was the bad part. When you said sandwich feedback, I literally thought you were gonna be like, "You had a turkey sandwich. I preferred ham."

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: More sandwich options.

Shubh: Yeah. Please. The other thing was, like, we had a running gag about whether there'd be snacks there. It feels like there are gonna be some snacks.

I didn't see any snacks.

Philippe: I never said there was gonna be snacks.

Brooke: Why would you not have

Shubh: snacks? No, I said, I s- I said, "There's gonna be no snacks, but it'll be a great time," on LinkedIn. You'll s- you said, "Shubh, there'll be limited snacks."

Philippe: I think I-

Brooke: Yeah, he probably had a granola bar in his pocket.

Philippe: Yeah. Like- You're confusing, you're confusing two events.

I think you're confusing our, our office warming party with this one.

Shubh: No, I'm definitely not.

Philippe: I said there would be limited snacks. Yeah. I would never lie like that.

Shubh: Yeah. Uh, well, maybe I am confused. That's fair. Uh, we'll have to check that. We'll have to walk though. We'll put that in the show notes to see who is right.

Brooke: Hmm.

Shubh: Um, okay. Can I go now? Rose, bud, thorn?

Brooke: Yeah, do it.

Shubh: Uh, ooh. [00:09:00] Uh, so rose is just something, what, nice that happened?

Brooke: Is that helpful? Yeah, something that was positive.

Shubh: Okay. Uh, rose, uh, I went to the, with the family to Vancouver. We saw Noah Kahan. It was- So

Brooke: jealous ...

Shubh: an incredible show. Incredible. So my older two daughters and I, their first concert, unbelievable.

Bud was, uh, I don't know if this qualifies, but we, we did the podcast with Rita, and it was, uh, don't take this the wrong way, Brooke or Philippe, it was my favorite one. Uh, and it's-

Brooke: Biased. Yeah, biased. Seriously.

Philippe: I was like, "Why would I say that? I was on the podcast." Yeah, but you know, you

Brooke: know Rita. He, he didn't wanna single me out.

Yeah. He was like- Yeah ... "I can't have Brooke alone feeling like rubbish." I tried to be inclu- inclusive.

Philippe: So Yeah, that's right. Uh- Yours was, Brooke, yours, your first one was my favorite.

Brooke: Also, I just wanna say, like, your daughter's first concert.

Philippe: Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah. Okay, just wanna let you know my first concert was Alvin and the Chipmunks in West Edmonton Mall singing- Right

Achy Breaky Heart. Yeah. So pretty comparable actually.

Shubh: Wow. Um-

Brooke: Mm-hmm ...

Shubh: the [00:10:00] Chipmunks', uh, record w- in 1983 just used to spin- I was born that year, yep ... spin at our house. <<

Christmas time is here >>

Shubh: Yeah. And then they'd, uh, they sing a song about a toothbrush. Stace. I'll get back to you on that one. I don't want it to be rose- We'll put it, we'll put it

Philippe: in the show notes.

Yeah.

Shubh: Okay, sorry. Uh- Bud. Bud ... bud was Rita on the Pod. Thorn-

Brooke: No, no. Bud is what you're looking forward to.

Shubh: I'm looking forward to more people seeing Rita on the Pod. Okay, wait, I got two roses. Noah Kahan, Rita on the Pod. Bud is, uh, indoor soccer season kicks off- Yes ... so I start coaching again this week. Oh,

Philippe: fun.

Coach

Shubh: Chaz is back. Uh, it's gonna be a ton of fun. I try, I t- I, I tried to retire, and then I was like, "Oh, we got some good kids coming in. It's time to give it one more rip." Wow. Uh, thorn

Oh I don't know that I have a thorn right now. Last w- it's been- What

Philippe: about not doing a segment for Tech Thursday Live?

Shubh: Oh, yeah. I don't- were we gonna get into this live on air? Brooke, l- tell me how you feel about this. So Philippe and I have been doing this show together- I'm like- ... for a while. [00:11:00] Him and Mark, who's very, like, he's absolutely the right guy to do this live show, uh, with Philippe.

Um, I didn't get to do a segment for the show. Not even a segment? I thought maybe I'd do... Yeah. Like, I thought- Mm ... Philippe was like, "Well, maybe you can go r- m- put something together," and I thought, "Okay, yeah, maybe." But then I kinda just thought I'd get invited up because, you know, I was there. Uh- He was

Brooke: in the front row waiting.

Yeah,

Shubh: I was there, and I was like, "Oh, they're gonna, they're gonna, they're gonna-" Any moment. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Any moment. Just be like, "Hey, Shubh, come up here and, uh, you know, uh, wow the crowd, uh, for three or four minutes." Yeah, so that... I mean, it didn't happen. Yet.

Brooke: Actually,

Shubh: I got one other thorn f- Yes. I f- I do, I have an actual thorn from your event, Philippe, if you're ready for this one.

Oh, boy. Yeah. Oh- Here

Brooke: comes the sandwich.

Philippe: Oh, yeah, here

Shubh: we go. I wanted a light beer, like a lager.

Philippe: Uh-oh. I'm in a spiral.

Shubh: Was only Bud Light. Oof.

Brooke: That is fair. That is a light beer.

Shubh: It wasn't very good.

Brooke: You didn't- Yeah ... specify you wanted good light beer.

Shubh: It was all they had, though.

Brooke: I, I feel

Philippe: like- They had, like, for some

Shubh: reason they had [00:12:00] three different margaritas.

Brooke: Wow.

Shubh: Yeah. I'm just saying, maybe a little feedback- In a can, yeah ... for the, for the, for the team.

Brooke: Very margarita forward. Yeah.

Shubh: Very margarita forward. Uh, Brooke, what's your rose bud thorn?

Brooke: Well, the reason I originally brought this up is to talk about my kids' different personalities, 'cause our little guy is like, does, never has a thorn.

Shubh: Yeah,

Brooke: it's all- Everything is like- ... life is amazing. And our daughter, you'll be like, "rose bud thorn." She'll be like, "I don't have a rose, no bud- ... but also I have 17 grievances." They're like her favorite. She's all thorns. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. We're working on it. Uh, but you got a

Shubh: rose bud thorn?

Brooke: I do. Yeah. Okay. So my rose is, um, let's see. S- I mean- This is good ... we went to Callaway Park on Saturday.

Shubh: Okay.

Brooke: And we logged four hours, and it was rainy. Yeah. And we still, we stuck it out.

Shubh: Feels like this

Brooke: feels like- Feels like a

Shubh: thorn ... a kind of a thorny

Brooke: rose- Yeah ... doesn't it, Philippe? That was a little thing.

Uh- Callaway Park,

Philippe: is that the one outside of the city,

Brooke: like- Yeah. Is that the... What?

Shubh: It's, he's- I think I- He did live here as a youth.

Brooke: Oh, okay. Yeah.

Shubh: He doesn't have kids. Uh, it's- I think, it-

Brooke: It's- Okay, fair ...

Philippe: every time I drive by I

Brooke: [00:13:00] go- Amusement park ... "Oof,

Philippe: that's, this place." Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: Depressing.

Brooke: But the dropper there is chef's kiss.

I love the dropper. I-

Philippe: Oh, really?

Shubh: Yeah. I've got some things I can't say about the clientele at Callaway Park.

Philippe: Are they, like, missing teeth? It, they seem like they would be

Brooke: missing teeth. I'm not

Philippe: missing teeth and I went to Callaway Park. No. No, there's a wide... You know what? It's a place for everybody.

Brooke: All right.

Uh- It's a, it's a place for everyone ... so, so that, I think that was the, the rose. Who lives in a trailer park. You know, a nice long weekend. Bud is, every year I try to run around Upper Canala- Kananaskis. Yes.

Shubh: Yeah,

Brooke: you told- Oof ... us about this last time ... it's, like, 16 kilometers, and I've been nursing an ankle injury.

Shubh: Okay.

Brooke: And I'm just like, "Beep it. I'm gonna do it anyway." Yeah. "I'm just gonna tape it up, and it can just shut up." Yeah. So next weekend I'm gonna do what I'm calling the Run Around.

Shubh: Yes

Brooke: I'm getting as many friends as I can, probably two.

Shubh: You're gonna run 16 kilometers.

Brooke: We're gonna run around Upper Kananaskis.

It's so nice. Wow. Yeah.

Shubh: That'd

Philippe: be awesome.

Brooke: Yeah. I mean, probably not. I'll probably be severely injured by the end. I gotta,

Shubh: I gotta be honest, both [00:14:00] things you've mentioned had very thorny elements to them.

Brooke: Okay. Well...

Shubh: You had rain, my ankle's hurting. Uh, do you have an actual proper thorn without

Philippe: any of this?

Yeah, and this is where we learn that the apple doesn't fall

Brooke: far from the tree. I have 12 muses. Yeah. My thorn is, um That my husband's finished his sabbatical. Yeah. So at 9:00 AM every morn- also, like, he, I don't get to see him all day every day, which is- Yeah ... obviously a thorn 'cause I love him so much. Oh, man. And also-

Shubh: He made me an incredible cup of coffee last week.

Brooke: That- Wow. Yeah, incredible ... he is going to

Shubh: be- One of the best

Brooke: cups of coffee ... so insulted when he hears that you said a cup of coffee. He made you a latte.

Shubh: Oh, that's right. He made me a latte- ... and it was legitimately incredible.

Philippe: Wow.

Shubh: Like, maybe the best latte I've ever had

Brooke: in my life. Imagine a brain doctor making a latte.

It was that level.

Philippe: Um, that's incredible.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: And he is a brain doctor.

Brooke: He is, yeah.

Philippe: Yeah.

Brooke: But- Yeah ... every morning at 9:00 AM, m- you know, my team's mostly in Europe [00:15:00] and Brazil, and so my mornings are quite chaotic after, like, kid drop-off at school. And every morning at 9:00 AM, he would just, like, slide a second latte in in my heated mug, and I was just like, "Oh, this is the best."

Yeah. Today I had to make a latte myself.

Shubh: Ugh. It's the worst. So my thorn, I checked myself, mine was also gonna be... So my wife is going back to work today, but it's kinda like not a thorn because of what she's been through, so I didn't wanna be like, "Oh, it's a thorn. She's going back to work." For me it's a thorn.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: Uh, because, you know, it's pretty awesome when she doesn't have to go to work. But as

Brooke: for-

Shubh: Feel

Brooke: like you were kinda riding my coattails on that one.

Shubh: Yeah. Well, I mean, it's ki- yeah. But it's kind of an incredible thing that she's back already. It's amazing. So I kinda was like, "Should I throw that in as a thorn?"

Philippe: Yeah. I

Shubh: think you can. See, my thorns were basically roses, and Brooke's roses and buds were basically thorns.

Philippe: Were basically thorns. Yeah. There you go.

Shubh: Hi, everybody. It's Shubh here. Are you a startup founder or a scale-up exec that's trying to take your company to the next level? Are you looking for the right people to help you do it? [00:16:00] Are you looking for people who will help you set culture, who have deep domain expertise, who can figure anything out, who are Swiss Army Knives and unicorns?

How are you finding those people? Are you juggling multiple job boards? Are you screening hundreds of resumes, doing dozens of interviews? Is it working? I bet it's not. Are you frustrated? I bet you are. Do you know how I know that? Because once upon a time, I was you. Then I discovered the New Network.

Jennifer Wiens and her team at the New Network help Canadian tech companies build and scale high-performance teams through a proven unique approach to recruitment and executive search. Also, they're awesome. I used them to help build most of my team at ZayZoon, and I would use them again, and I've recommended them to everyone that I know.

Check out newnetwork.ca for more details. The New Network: I couldn't have done it without them.

Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, we got a new sponsor Center Nine the number nine.com. [00:17:00] So Center the number nine.com but not written center the number nine. Center- Center l- Nine. Nine. Yeah. But not N-I-N-E. That's a better way to describe it. Centernine.com, not N-I-N-E. That's not a better way. That's not a better way. No, that's a much more confusing way to describe it.

Speaker 3: Do, uh, think they're immediately regretting sponsoring this podcast? Yeah, that's right. My friends Riz Kazam and Clint Phillips, they run a Microsoft consulting shop. They are two former technical consultants who got tired of watching enterprises and companies overpay for bad Microsoft 365 work and built their own consultancy.

I've worked with a number of clients over the last six months. It's remarkable the number of early-stage companies that use Microsoft and use Teams, and it takes them days, weeks to get stuff set up for us. So you know what? Uh, call Clint, call Riz, call Center Nine. They can do, uh, Microsoft 365 security, Identity, Copilot adoption, [00:18:00] uh, AI compliance, M&A migrations.

They're a small team, deep expertise, no fluff. Wow. Did you like how I said, "No fluff"? Yeah. That's great. So, uh, if your organization is navigating any of these things, reach out to them on LinkedIn. Uh, go to their website. Uh, you know what? You can, you can DM me. I'll put you in touch with them. Center Nine- Yeah

Speaker 2: .com. I've known Riz for a long time. I see him at the gym all the time. He's in good shape, too. Is he? Yeah, he's in good shape. Takes care of himself. So you know if somebody takes care of himself that way- Uh-huh ... he's gonna take care of your Microsoft 365 needs. Boom. Boom. Reach out to them on LinkedIn. Uh, reach out to me.

Speaker 3: I'll connect you with them. Go to their website, Center Nine, not N-I-N-E .com Center, the number nine. So it's centernine, not N-I-N-E .com. Centernine.com. And, uh, we're gonna put that in the show notes. They're good guys. They're gonna do a good job

[00:19:00]

Philippe: Do you, uh, Brooke, do you wanna be here for, uh, our new segment?

Brooke: I don't know.

Philippe: Philippe's dating life? Can

Brooke: I say- Yes. Oh my

Shubh: gosh ... can I, can I say one thing before you do that?

Brooke: No, wait, no. I wanna be... Yes,

Shubh: absolutely. So if you missed the episode where he was on, three, I have to just give you some context. Okay. He gave us very in-depth reporting on, uh, w- on his, the state of his dating life and whether it was- A da- we trying to date him?

Brooke: Is it a rose, a bud, or a thorn? Yeah,

Shubh: exactly right.

Uh, um, I did have a couple of people, uh, Philippe talk to me, uh, and were like, "Hey, should Philippe be sharing all of that stuff?"

Brooke: Oh, I thought you were gonna say they're gonna be like, "Hey, can I get a date with..."

Shubh: Oh. Yeah. I don't know enough young people, though, as yes, I think that would- You

Brooke: don't have to be young.

Age is nothing but a number.

Philippe: That's true, actually. That's right. No young people

Shubh: listen to this podcast. Yeah. So, uh, yeah, so I just, like, maybe I'm gonna steer a little bit today and help you

Philippe: out. What, what, w- what'd they say? They were concerned? They were like, "That's too much

Shubh: for us"? They were just like, "Yeah, he's...

What if [00:20:00] the, what if other people hear it?"

Philippe: What if she hears?

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Oh, she's hearing it.

Philippe: Yeah. She's hearing it you think? 100%.

Shubh: I mean, it was a very well-listened-to episode.

Philippe: Was it really?

Shubh: Yeah, yeah.

Philippe: It

Shubh: did quite well, yeah. So-

Brooke: Yeah, because she shared it with all her friends ...

Shubh: yeah, that might be true.

Philippe: I mean, hey, listen, whatever you gotta do to get them clicks, know what I'm saying?

Brooke: Absolutely As, as

Philippe: the, as

Brooke: the- I, I personally like a little personalization ... as the owner of this

Shubh: podcast, I think I absolutely want him to, to, to- Yeah, don't

Philippe: you think that those people are gonna engage further now? Like- No,

Shubh: I'm ... Listen, I'm ... Listen, I got, uh, yeah, two hats.

Philippe: Right. I got a business hat on- One- ...

Shubh: and a friendship hat

Brooke: one is definitely a trucker hat. The other one is a dad hat.

Shubh: That's right. They're actually both trucker hats. Okay. One just has this podcast logo on it, and the other has, like, a, uh, Phil's picture on it.

Philippe: Aw. And- That's him protecting my career ...

Shubh: with the Phil's picture on it, I'm like, "You know, you know, it's gonna be okay," but I think it's gonna be okay, right?

Who said this? You haven't gotten any blowback. You'll tell me after. I'll, I'll tell you later. Yeah, yeah. All right. It's mostly people of my generation, I think. Okay. So [00:21:00] maybe the kid ... You know, the kids these days- ... they're used to having-

Philippe: Is it Kelly Schmidt? Is it Kelly Schmidt? No,

Shubh: no. No, Kelly, I think Kelly

No, Kelly has not provided that feedback.

Philippe: Yet. Kelly's probably eating popcorn like, "This is amazing." I love

Shubh: it. Rita loved it. Yeah. My kids, I think I told you my kids' first episode they've actually listened to, 'cause Mom was on. They loved it.

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah, so-

Brooke: Adley would love it, too, 'cause she's really into ju- what she calls juicy crushes.

Ooh.

Shubh: Oh.

Brooke: So she'll be like, "Is it a juicy crush on my

Shubh: hat?" Juicy, hey, Juicy Crushes could be a good name- ... a segment. Well, uh- Okay, let's, uh- Yes ... we do have somebody else coming in today.

Philippe: Okay.

Shubh: So can you give us- Are, are you cutting me off

Brooke: already? Is, is

Shubh: my time done? No, this is ... I wanna make sure Brooke has enough time.

Okay. Why don't, uh, uh ... Welcome to Philip's Dating Life Update. No, hold on.

I'm

Shubh: working on the tune.

Philippe: That's great. I

Shubh: love it. You want me to just keep doing the tune the whole time

Philippe: or- Yeah. Well, no, I'll- Or- How about this? I'll overshare.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: And in post, if you think it's too much, we'll just cut it, and all you'll hear is me saying this. And, uh- And then we'll, we'll go and add back the Brooke- Matt, how [00:22:00] much do you charge

Shubh: to edit podcasts?

We'll do it for you guys for free.

Philippe: Everything's free. I won't upcharge. It's all free? Yeah, it's all

Shubh: free.

Philippe: Everything's free.

Shubh: Okay, go ahead.

Philippe: Um, so, so the, uh, the situation with the Australian girl, uh, we don't really know. I went, I ended up going over there. W- uh, uh, we hung out, and nothing really happened.

Shubh: Yeah. We, were date or not date was the question. We, Rita and I were 100% sure it was a date. It turned out-

Philippe: Yeah, I think it was

Brooke: just- You hung out one-to-one?

Philippe: Yeah.

Brooke: In a private residence?

Shubh: Twice.

Brooke: Twice? That's a date. Come on, get outta town.

Philippe: Brooke

Brooke: and- People can say it's not. That's a date.

Philippe: All right. Yeah. Well, nothing happened, so we'll see.

Yet. She's traveling right now, but, uh-

Brooke: Yeah. Yet ...

Philippe: um, but there's someone else. Well, I mean, it's hard to really say this since she's not- Well,

Brooke: okay, maybe not yet. I think that may be the end of that.

Philippe: Well, not someone else. Y- well, I mean, it's ... D- this is the dating update, right? Don't you wanna hear it?

Brooke: Yep, I do.

I got my popcorn. I

Philippe: mean, I'm not sure if something will happen

Shubh: with somebody, uh, but we'll see. But in the in- in

Philippe: the meantime-[00:23:00]

Shubh: I mean-

Philippe: Yeah ... I was, I

Shubh: was at a- You know what? Everybody's just gonna assume this is all bits we're doing anyways. So you're, you're Clinton. I

Philippe: w- I was at this concert, okay? This Winnipeg band, Neighbor Andy, and, uh-

Shubh: Ney Brandy?

Philippe: Neighbor Andy.

Shubh: Oh, Neighbor Andy.

Philippe: Yeah. Okay. Kind of a cool band. Yeah. And, uh, there's this, this woman there, lovely gal.

We s- we spark up a conversation. Uh, uh, you know, she's

Shubh: French. Ice, ice cold, or you, you were, she, she knew knew, you knew somebody who knew her?

Philippe: Ice cold.

Shubh: Okay.

Philippe: Just went up there. She ended up knowing someone that I was sort of there with or something. Yeah. But, um, yeah. Just went up, sparked up a conversation.

Uh, and, um- Uh, i- we were all going out to the club after, so I invited her out. Oh,

Brooke: man, you are young.

Shubh: Mm-hmm.

Philippe: Yeah. We went to Suite Loretta. Yeah. And, uh, we were s- like me and this girl were speaking French, super lovely. Yeah. And then we were chatting in the club. I like... She's asking me about, like, my running abilities, and then she [00:24:00] asked me to pull up my Strava.

So I'm showing her my Strava, and she's, like, critiquing my times. Whoa.

Brooke: Hey-o.

Shubh: Uh, you guys are runners. Strava for the rest of us is-

Brooke: Yeah. It's okay, Shubh. We'll catch you up after. It's not

Shubh: a penis. Not a p- yeah, sure, yeah. Just wanted to make sure. That's all I needed. You thought I was

Brooke: showing you- That's also, like, that's- I just needed to check

like I also, I like running and I like Strava, and that is a bold move, be like- Right ... "Show me how fast you are." Show me,

Philippe: yeah. Yeah. And needless to say, she was impressed.

Brooke: Are you a fast runner?

Philippe: I'm pretty fast. I'm okay. What does your Strava say? My Strava says I'm pretty fast.

Brooke: Can I tell you something- I don't know what I'm saying right now

about a fast runner? My brother's girlfriend ran Boston as a pro runner.

Philippe: Wow.

Brooke: 242.

Shubh: That's pretty good.

Philippe: That's remarkable.

Brooke: Incredible. That is really fast. Every time Chris and I do anything in our lives yet, we're always just like, "Paulie did that faster." Yeah. Yeah. "She, she ran it faster."

Philippe: I'm not that fast.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Oh, okay. S- okay. I feel like I shouldn't have brought that

Philippe: up. Yeah, yeah. She... Yeah, if you [00:25:00] would've told that story in front of that girl, she wouldn't have been impressed. Anyway- Good

Brooke: thing I wasn't there.

Philippe: Yeah. Then-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Philippe: y- w- one thing leads to another. We- we start kissing in this club.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: Boof. I was like, "Hey, we have to stop."

Brooke: Why?

Philippe: I don't know. We were, like, by the entrance. Everyone I had come there with was l- looking at me.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: I w- I am not a fan. So anyway, we were- You're not

Brooke: a...

Philippe: I'm not into kissing in the club. Okay, yeah. Okay, you're

Brooke: not that young. What are we doing? We have to stop. This is absurd. Look at all these people. Mom, Dad, Mom,

Shubh: Dad, those two people are kissing.

That

Philippe: was, yeah, we-

Brooke: Wait ... yeah. You sound like you were surprised.

Philippe: Those elephants- That you're like, "What are we doing here?" ... are kissing each other. Yeah, a little bit. Okay. All right. Yeah, I was a little bit surprised. Okay. You know? So- And then we went on a date. Yep. And, uh, and the date was, uh, to be honest, only okay.

So-

Brooke: What a letdown ...

Philippe: what a let- we went for ice cream on a Monday.

Shubh: I gotta tell you, uh, episode two of this segment was not as good as episode

Philippe: one. [00:26:00] Well, maybe I could add some color.

Brooke: I'm feeling slightly uncomfortable that we're talking about this, 'cause she's definitely gonna be listening.

Shubh: Yeah. See? This is the type of feedback people- See, this is what we're gonna get

people that are closer to my age- Yeah ... not that Brooke is my age- Right ... but, but, uh, closer to. We'll cut

Philippe: this. Don't worry.

Shubh: No, no, we're definitely keeping

Brooke: it- Keeping it ... just for the

Shubh: record.

Brooke: Keeping it. Yeah. Just glad that my address isn't out there.

Shubh: Yeah,

Brooke: yeah,

Philippe: yeah. Yeah. Okay. But she was very sweet. She was very lovely.

But yeah,

Brooke: well,

Philippe: that's the dating life. I'll probably

Shubh: take out the happy

Brooke: part. Dating, let me just tell you, like, that is- I think I'll leave everything else in ... that is v- dating is very hard. Right. I just feel like I think back, and I'm like, "That is just-" It's terrible.

Philippe: Yeah.

Brooke: Most of it is terrible.

Philippe: Hmm.

Terrible.

Brooke: Yeah.

Philippe: Anyway. Yeah. Making it out in the club, that's my update. I'm gonna start calling you

Shubh: Thorns.

Brooke: I wonder where Adam gets her

Philippe: Thorns. That might be your new nickname. Dating's kind of fun, though. I kinda like dating. Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah. You get to meet someone. I used to... I had, in my 20s, I had so many bad dates all...

And I worked for a small software company at the time, and everyone was so invested in my dating life. Yeah. And I would come, you know, in after a date and everyone would be [00:27:00] like, "How was it?" But-

Shubh: Well, I gotta be honest, Brooke's dating update, uh, just brought us down a bit. Well- Not, not bringing that segment back.

Wel- welcome to a new segment called More Thorns. With Brooke on. Mer, mer. A new segment called

Brooke: Every Thorn Has Its Thorns.

Shubh: Oh,

Brooke: Shamik,

Shubh: here's my

Brooke: idea.

Shubh: Uh-

Brooke: Have you introduced me yet? Yeah. What is happening?

Shubh: I... Okay, listen. First of all, things often get away from me on this podcast. Welcome

Philippe: to season

Brooke: two. On this podcast.

Shubh: Uh, yeah, Brooke, uh, I think I've introduced you. I said CEO of Flockler.

Brooke: No.

Shubh: I definitely did say that. Yeah, you did. Yeah.

Brooke: You did? Yeah.

Shubh: All right. Yeah, I did. I'm a bit of a podcasting professional now.

Brooke: Oh.

Shubh: Uh, actually, I don't, I'm not, but, 'cause every time I go to edit, I'm like, "Fuck, I didn't say the catchphrase at the beginning. I didn't say what episode it was. I didn't say what the guest does." But I, I did actually for this time.

Brooke: Okay.

Shubh: I said the episode.

I said the two catchphrases. I said Brooke Hahn returns. [00:28:00] Yes. Since the last time we chatted, you're the CEO of Flockler.

Brooke: Yep.

Shubh: Last time you chatted, you were just the GM of Flockler. Mm-hmm,

Brooke: that's right.

Shubh: So, congratulations.

Brooke: Thank you. Thank you.

Philippe: And your company got acquired.

Brooke: It did.

Philippe: That's so exciting.

Brooke: It's been really exciting, yeah.

Shubh: Fl- Flockler does, uh, social media aggregation.

Brooke: Yeah, it's, it's scalable social embeds, so used by, like, Australian Open to pull in all the social feeds of the 500 players into the tournament. Australian

Shubh: Open, pretty big brand.

Philippe: Heard of it.

Brooke: Yeah, heard of a lot of our customers. They, we have an incredible customer base and- What's your

Shubh: favorite customer?

Brooke: Australian Open, actually. Yeah. Probably,

Shubh: yeah. Good

Philippe: answer. You spending that dough on sabbatical.

Shubh: Yeah. I think she, yeah, I think, yeah, we don't have to get into that. So I think it's probably just- ... rolled over into other equity- ... like, to be honest.

Philippe: Oh, I see.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: Oh,

Shubh: I see. You know how, Phil, a lot of, uh, people you know, like, uh, Brooke and I, we're very successful.

Uh, our money's not, uh- It's not about the money ... [00:29:00] liquid.

Brooke: It's not liquid.

Shubh: Yeah. I'm like,

Brooke: it's

Shubh: not about the money. You know how there's new money, there's old money. There's money that hasn't happened yet. There's Bud money. Yeah, there's Bud money.

Brooke: And Thorn money.

Shubh: Yeah. You got your Thorn money. You got your Bud money.

You got your Rose money. Right. Yes. Everybody you know got Bud money. Yeah. And I ain't talking about money to buy a beer to Tech Thursday, man. Ooh, good one. Zing. Call back there. Uh, so, uh, do you feel sufficiently introduced yet?

Brooke: Yeah, I do wanna talk a little more about Bike Wash 7000 and how I got the perfect salsa score.

I d- I don't think you mentioned that. You did

Shubh: get, uh, one of our earliest perfect salsa scores.

Brooke: Ooh, that feels like- You also had- ... you're like, "We didn't know enough- ... and so we gave you a perfect score." I read into that, but. You

Shubh: also had the most actual ready business idea.

Brooke: Okay, well, I'll be prepared to- But you didn't-

bring those levels down today ...

Shubh: you didn't do anything- Okay ... with it.

Brooke: Yet.

Shubh: So actually, Bike Wash, if we turn this into a bit of a venture studio, Bike Wash would definitely be, we get, like, some kid, some kid to run with [00:30:00] it, you know?

Brooke: No, it's mine.

Shubh: No, you keep a bunch of equity. Okay, okay. The kid just does all the work.

Brooke: Bud equity. The

Shubh: kid gets- Bud equity ... the kid gets that Bud money, you know what I'm saying? And we can call him Bud, no matter what his name is. Doesn't

Brooke: matter.

Shubh: Or her

Brooke: Equal opportunity

Shubh: Yeah. Buddy

Brooke: Actually, my, my idea today is an equal opportunity idea

Shubh: Okay. Uh, Brooke, do you have an idea- I have three ... you would like to pitch us?

I, ooh.

Brooke: I have three. Okay. I don't think we'll be able to get into all of them.

Shubh: Can I just make a correction? I think I said season two, episode two at the beginning. You said three. I did. You said

Brooke: three. Yeah.

Shubh: I, we can take that correction out.

Brooke: Yep.

Shubh: Go for it. Brooke, the floor is, uh, yours, in a fancy chair.

Brooke: Okay.

I am not... My idea's not as prepared, but I feel like

Shubh: That's 'cause you're a CEO now. We gotta- You, you just- We

Brooke: gotta

Shubh: address it ... make ideas. Before you had to operate. Yeah. Now you're just like-

Brooke: Now I just like- Beep, beep, beep ... throw out ideas.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah, somebody

Brooke: else's- You get an idea and you get... I'm like Oprah

somebody else's problem. Yeah. I'm like Oprah- Yeah ... with my ideas.

Shubh: Okay, go.

Brooke: Okay. Do you know [00:31:00] truck nuts?

Philippe: Yeah. Love 'em.

Brooke: Love them? Wow. That, that's a strong stance. Tell me, tell me more. They just make me- You love a truck

Philippe: nut ... they, they just make me a little happy when I see them, you know?

Brooke: Happy? Yeah. Oh. Why?

Shubh: You do not

Brooke: love truck nuts.

Yeah, he does. Look, that is genuine happiness. Yeah.

Philippe: It's just like, it's just like-

Shubh: The best thing about your Ranger's ride's pretty low, so if you ever got some truck nuts, they'd just be- They'd be dragging ... trailing on the

Philippe: ground. That'd actually

Shubh: be hilarious. I think I like where your idea is going already.

Uh, okay.

Brooke: Do you know where my idea's going? Uh, I

Shubh: know you a little

Brooke: bit. Okay. So truck nuts. Yeah. Right? Who do you think the target audience is for those?

Shubh: Uh...

Brooke: We don't need to-

Philippe: I know. The same people who go to whatever fairground you went to.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah. What was that? I was gonna- She's not wrong. Yeah. Local Callaway Park.

Yeah.

Brooke: Callaway Park. Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah. Uh, uh, guys who are voting a certain way- Yeah ... in the, uh, in the upcoming... Separation vote?

Brooke: Yes. Okay. So I painted a picture [00:32:00] there.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Now picture this.

Philippe: That's not why I love them, by the way. I just-

Brooke: Oh, okay. Yeah ... think they're funny. They're very f- they're also very obnoxious. My idea's also equally as obnoxious.

Yeah. Um, the vitch, vagina hitch.

Philippe: Whoa.

Brooke: So instead of-

Shubh: I thought you were going truck ovaries just for the record, so.

Brooke: No. Yeah. No.

Shubh: Okay.

Brooke: No, this one-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Brooke: you know, you see those trucks and you're just like, "That's feels, like, very masculine." Yeah. And come on.

Shubh: A to- wholly, uh, dysfunctional.

Brooke: Yes.

Shubh: Bad for your gas mileage, too.

Brooke: Yeah, lots of drag. So, yeah, it's- Lots of drag ... a

Philippe: ton of drag.

Brooke: Yeah. And these trucks, they've got, like, lift kits, you know? Yeah. It's, it's just a whole scene.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah.

Brooke: In comes subtle feminism- Yeah ... with the vitch.

Shubh: I don't think it's that subtle, but continue.

Brooke: Well, I mean, it's, it's just, it's, it's a plugin to the hitch.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah. It's a vagina.

Shubh: So the... Oh, sorry. I thought, I thought the entire hitch was gonna be like a vagina, and then you could just hitch things faster 'cause it would be like a- [00:33:00]

Brooke: No,

Shubh: it's like

Brooke: the truck nuts ... it would like enter and couple. The truck nuts have no-

Shubh: Oh, so you just put the vagina on your hitch?

Brooke: Yeah. It's just, like, every time you see s- one of those trucks you drive by with your vitch and you're, like, pro-feminism.

Shubh: I actually think this might be a legitimately Good idea.

Philippe: It's not a bad idea. I think what you're gonna see, though, is, um, you're gonna create some weird social dynamics where the vitchers and the, um-

Shubh: Hmm

Philippe: uh, they're actually gonna start I feel like they're gonna start intermingling more often than you think. I think these two groups are gonna fall in love.

Shubh: I do not think

Brooke: that's I don't, I don't think this. I think this is, like, all the people who are like, "Those truck nuts are so obnoxious"- Yeah ... are going and getting the vitch.

Oh. And it's just very subtly... Not, I don't know how subtle, but, you know.

Shubh: The metal? How, what do we make of this thing?

Brooke: I mean, the nuts are all different materials, you know? So it's the same. It could be-

Shubh: Is it u- uh, underneath the hitch or on top of the hitch?

Brooke: In the hitch. Oh, just right- It's a, it's, you just put it in the hitch.

Oh

Shubh: yeah. Okay.

Brooke: Uh- Glow in the dark. Would

Philippe: you use one of [00:34:00] these?

Brooke: Absolutely not. I drive a Volvo SUV. I will not be- Interesting

Philippe: thing, though. Would people, would people buy these?

Brooke: Well, why are people buying truck nuts? It's absurd.

Philippe: Uh, 'cause they're- Hey, does it really make you mad when you see them?

Brooke: Uh, well, mo- yeah.

Yeah. I,

Philippe: I-

Brooke: Mostly I'm just like, "You must really feel this big," you know? Yeah. To get that.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah.

Brooke: But I do like a subtle, you know- I think people

Shubh: would- It's not subtle ... buy these.

Brooke: I think so, too.

Shubh: And I do not think they would be that complex to produce.

Brooke: Amazon, you could just get those flying off the

Shubh: shelves.

I, uh, I know a guy who's got some manufacturing hookups overseas. He does the design and stuff. Get 'em, you get 'em packaged up and shipped. I think we should do it.

Brooke: All right.

Shubh: Yeah. W- what if, what if you- Oh,

Brooke: man ... what

Philippe: if you had to make, what if, if you wanted to get, um, truck nuts, you also had to have a, um, size accurate truck penis?

Like that was a condition [00:35:00] of purchase. Everyone could see how big, yeah. Everyone could see how big your penis was.

Brooke: Oh, like that's a different product idea.

Philippe: Yeah. Right.

Brooke: Yeah.

Philippe: You know what I mean? It, it adds on-

Brooke: Yeah,

Philippe: a barrier to

Brooke: entry ...

Philippe: barrier to entry. It's like you get the truck nuts- No one would have

Brooke: those

Shubh: truck nuts.

I'd be so worried about getting letters from the truck nuts people, if any of them could write.

Philippe: That's right. Uh- I wish, I wish more of the, uh, separation questions, 'cause there's like 10. Yeah. I wish some of them were more social things, like, "Hey, should we

Brooke: ban truck nuts?" Do you like truck nuts? Yeah. Do you have truck nuts on your truck?

Shubh: Yeah, what do you think about... No, you can't have yeah. I was thinking that's like an analog answer.

You can't really have those. It's gotta be binary. D- for or against.

Brooke: Truck nuts.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: How many salsas is the vitch getting? Is there more? Wait, how much

Brooke: more- No, that's, that's, that's that's the entire idea. Yeah, you got, you got two more ideas. I've got two more ideas, yeah.

Shubh: Uh-

Philippe: I, I mean, this is,

Shubh: this is a s- it's about...

It's not a 75

Brooke: Oh, man, I knew it But it's

Shubh: not below a 50.

Brooke: This was [00:36:00] my risk of coming back.

Shubh: No, no. Listen.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: Uh, uh, Killers had a great first album. This is gonna be my thorn for sure. I still listen to their other albums, you know?

Brooke: This is my thorn now. I knew this. Uh,

Shubh: yeah, you're gonna be beating yourself up about this.

This is now my

Philippe: 200th thorn.

Shubh: Uh, I'm gonna do... Here's what I like about this idea.

Brooke: Okay.

Shubh: A, very easy to do.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: B, you just run some ads. Yeah. Right? There's no complexity with this business. You don't have to worry about distribution. You're just like, "Hey, do you think it'd be funny to have a vagina on the hitch of your car?"

And a bunch of people would be like, "Yes, I do think that would be funny."

Brooke: Yep. "

Shubh: I would buy one of those." Yeah. And here's the other place I like it: gifts. Gay gifts, people would love this.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: So I think, uh, there's a commercialization opportunity here.

Brooke: I, yeah, 100% agree.

Shubh: And, uh, uh, I'm gonna give it a 58.

Brooke: Wow.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Very specific number.

Philippe: Yeah. That's pretty... Yeah, that's pretty good. I'm personally worried that people are gonna start pranking me and putting a vitch on the back of my innocent Ford Ranger. You know what?

Shubh: [00:37:00] Okay, but if you're a owner in that business-

Philippe: Right. That's true ...

Shubh: you, you would want that. The prank- The

Philippe: prank

the prank aspect

Shubh: would be- Yeah ...

Philippe: I mean- Someone's gonna be running around putting these in all the Ford Rangers, and I'm...

Brooke: Well, I- I don't know that people have anything against Ford Rangers. I mean, but-

Philippe: Everyone always makes fun of me Yeah, just

Shubh: Philippe's Ford Ranger. It's just they have something against Philippe.

Brooke: I mean, after this episode.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah.

Brooke: Uh- Two people in particular. Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah. Uh, so, so what are you rating it? Look, if you went through the lens of not being on the receiving end of a prank-

Philippe: Yeah ...

Shubh: if you went through the lens of, uh, do you think this is a viable business?

Philippe: I do think it's a viable business.

Um- But I, I don't know how big the market

Brooke: is. What? How? Truck nuts, I'm telling you.

Shubh: It's half the population.

Philippe: Oh.

Brooke: Half the population?

Shubh: It's maybe more.

Philippe: It's not half the population. Just trying

Shubh: to gas you up. Okay.

Philippe: Who drive trucks?

Shubh: Well, it doesn't have to be a truck. I guess it could be- Any, any, anything with a hitch.

Minivans have hitches.

Philippe: Right. [00:38:00] So you're right, I wasn't thinking that. Subarus have

Shubh: hitches. Yep, lot of Subarus have hitches. Which

Philippe: is more than epic. A lot

Brooke: of cars

Shubh: have hitches. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. We're just running through the list of cars that have hitches.

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: Trucks-

Philippe: It's okay. Yeah, it's a pretty good- ... SUVs I'll, I'll j- I'll, I'll j- Motor homes I'll go e- I'll go 49 salsas, I think, for this one.

Brooke: Pretty good. Is that pretty good? It feels low.

Shubh: Uh, we notoriously were very harsh on people.

Brooke: Hm. I mean, I wouldn't know. I got a perfect score, but...

Shubh: Yeah. Then Phil got a little softer for a bit-

Brooke: Oh. Mm ...

Shubh: but he's tightened it back up.

Brooke: Okay.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Okay.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Are you ready for my second idea?

Shubh: Uh, I'm very ready. I'm a little, like, uh, surprised by the first idea.

Brooke: Well, this is-

Shubh: Not surprised in a negative way. It was very simple. It was pretty simple. I expected you to have, uh... Like I said, you've switched fully to- A bike

Brooke: washer 9000?

Shubh: You, you have fully switched into CEO mode. You're just, you're just walking into the meeting one morning. You're like, "Guys, picture this."

Right? That's what CEOs say. Yeah. Phil, that's what you say all the time.

Philippe: All the time.

Shubh: Yep. Picture this.

Brooke: Picture this.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Um, idea number two.

Shubh: Yeah

Brooke: I don't know which... How, how much time do we [00:39:00] got? I don't know.

Shubh: We got, uh, we got, we got 25 minutes roughly.

Brooke: Oh.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Amazing. Um, you don't have kids that you know of, right?

Shubh: She's looking

Philippe: at

Brooke: Philippe right now. Yeah, I, I hope not, yeah. But Shubh, you've, you've got kids, and you know- Yeah.

Shubh: Philippe's also kind of like my kid.

Brooke: Okay. So you've got- No ... an extra child. Um- Pause. You, you know the pain when you lose, you lose their favorite sweater.

Shubh: Okay.

Brooke: You lose the North Face fleece that you just bought them- Yeah

at daycare. You lose the water bottle at Camp Chief Hector. Are

Shubh: you saying my pain or their pain?

Brooke: The pain of the family because you're like- The

Philippe: thorn of the

Shubh: family. My kids don't really care- No, it's not about your kids ... if they lose something I got them. Listen, but do

Brooke: you know what's annoying- Yeah, yeah

as the parent?

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Is you're like, "Not only do I now have to go buy ano- So for our family, for example, we have a fleet of water bottles. Yeah. And there is something wrong with almost all of them, and you just keep buying a different water bottle being like, "This one won't leak." Yeah. And then you find the one that you're like, [00:40:00] "Ah."

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: And then they leave it at Camp Chief Hector. Yeah. And you email Camp Chief Hector and you say, "Hello, my daughter had a wonderful week." Yeah. "May we please have our water bottle back?" And then they never respond, and then you have to go buy another of this purple Thermos water bottle 'cause it's the only one that doesn't leak.

Now, the value of it, like, fine, it's annoying, but that water bottle is just gonna go into the garbage dump. Like, no one is gonna reuse it. They're just gonna be like, "Oh, look at all this garbage," or just gonna... Okay. Or at daycares you're just like, look at the lost and found. There's like hundreds of items.

They just clear it out. They maybe donate it or whatever. What about a little RFID tag? Yeah. You know you get these little name tags that you can put on clothes, you can put on water bottles. What if you could put like a little RFID tag on it, and then you have an app where you can track your kids' crap?

So then I know where that water bottle is, and I can go find it, or I can email them and be like, "Hey, it looks like she left it-

Philippe: Wow ...

Brooke: at the camp."

Philippe: Uh, it's, it's an app called Find My.

Brooke: No. [00:41:00] I have a name for it.

Shubh: Well, I feel like he's- Oh, but he's just saying it's like an app, like your device. But it's for- It's an app on

Brooke: it

kids' crap. It's n- it's much more- Okay ... lightweight. Let's

Shubh: hear the name. I wanna hear the name.

Brooke: Okay. Do you remember, um... What's, was it, what's the movie? What, uh, what was the- Uh, who was the people? Just give

Shubh: us one piece of information.

Brooke: I can't... I'm just trying to think. One, one item. Um-

Shubh: Somebody

Brooke: in it,

Shubh: what it was about.

Brooke: First name- When it came out ... sounds like, uh, was it The Wedding Date? W- Owen Wilson. Wedding Crashers. Wedding Crashers. Wedding Crashers, yeah. And the girl's like, "Don't hide 'cause I'll find you." Yeah. So the name is Don't Hide, and the tagline is "'Cause I'll find you."

Shubh: Okay. Whoa. Uh, I've got three things to say about this.

First of all, marketing a product to parents with kids with the title of Don't Hide- ... We'll Find You- ... I don't think- Okay ... is a great idea.

Brooke: I'm open to renaming.

Shubh: The second thing is, um, I, I... So I'm gonna sandwich criticism this because- Oh, okay ... but I'm gonna start with the criticism. The second thing is, um, kind of agree with Phil, the Find My [00:42:00] technology that, I mean-

Philippe: Existing

Shubh: native iPhones

you can just put, you can just tape an Air Tag

Brooke: onto. An Air Tag's too expensive. You gotta get like something lighter weight. Yeah,

Philippe: fair enough. This is literally just cheaper Air Tags.

Brooke: Yeah. Yes, cheaper Air Tags that are built into a sticker. You put the sticker on the thing-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Brooke: and then it... Because really it's like it's probably just in someone else's locker at daycare.

Shubh: Can I pitch, though, as you were doing this pitch, I was like, "Here's an idea."

Brooke: Oh, boy.

Shubh: There's a lot of water bottles that get lost.

Brooke: Yes.

Shubh: In fact, uh, this might shock you guys. I lost two water bottles in two days this summer. Lost one at the golf course, lost one at the soccer field, and they were my two favorite water bottles.

Brooke: And now those are going into the landfill.

Shubh: But hold on a sec.

Brooke: Mm.

Shubh: What if they didn't go into the landfill? So I was in Kelowna recently. You know, some kids, they go fishing for golf balls, and then they sell the golf balls at the side of the road. Oh, that's good. What if we just go around, go get all these old water bottles, run 'em through a little washing, [00:43:00] washing situation, right?

Th- we ghost kitchen a commercial and industrial washing, uh, dishwasher. Then we just sell 'em.

Brooke: Would you buy those for your children? Used water bottles.

Shubh: Well, I mean- Every water bottle's used after the first time, Brooke

Brooke: Yeah, but they're- I'd be like hand, foot, mouth, like that probably, you probably can never kill those germs.

Shubh: Uh, I, I mean, I- You can kill

Brooke: these germs ... I, I like- You don't have kids. You have no idea about the world- I like, uh- ... of these germs.

Shubh: I like my idea better.

Brooke: Wow, okay. Well.

Shubh: Yeah. I'd call it, uh, wa- wa- wa- wan- No, I don't have a name. Yeah, I don't think this is your best idea.

Brooke: It's not the best idea?

Shubh: Yeah. I think, um, and this is not...

Brooke: Wow. We are all practicing

Philippe: sandwich criticism. This, this is

Shubh: not me. Yeah.

Philippe: I'm, I'm gonna sandwich criticism this. I'm sure you're a great mother, but-

Brooke: Oh, wow. Don't worry. My kids say [00:44:00] this to me every day.

Philippe: I think your kids just gotta stop losing it, you know?

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: No, you really just don't have children. It's- I don't receive that feedback.

Yeah.

Shubh: Um, I have a daughter, uh, she'll love that I told this. She likes to lose stuff. She's a bit too much like her old man, I think is the problem. She

Philippe: likes losing stuff?

Shubh: Well, she doesn't like it, she's just great at it. Like she will get something- ... new and then it will disappear, and then one of her other sisters will be like, "Hey, I found your brand-new Christmas sweater at school."

I just found it. Wow. And she'll be like, "Wow, great. Thanks." So stuff does come back to her.

Brooke: Hmm.

Shubh: So she's got that. She

Brooke: got some good-

Shubh: Uh, but yeah- ... law student karma ... they do lose a lot of stuff. I thought originally you were going with like they lose a treasured toy. Sure. In which case, I think the tracking technology, parents will pay anything for it.

Brooke: Put that on the stuffy.

Shubh: I think the water bottle, I think honestly- Okay, maybe a bad example ... if you were like, "Get the trackable water bottle," I'd be like, "Ah, it's, uh, $38. The regular water bottle's $28."

Brooke: But then it goes into the landfill. This is about the environment.

Shubh: I, so but what if- But you [00:45:00] poo-pooed on my idea, which would keep it out of the landfill.

Ooh. So I don't think you care about the landfill

Philippe: that much. What, what if someone hacks into your app? Just takes- That finds your water bottle ... just finds- ... a kid who's obviously- Oh, yeah ... holding your water bottle. Oh,

Brooke: no. Oh, yeah. That's a good call. You're not using it... Oh, that is...

Philippe: Okay. This is a treasure trove- Yeah

for the pedophiles- Okay ... of the world.

Brooke: Okay. That's why. I don't want this idea anymore. I take my idea back. Just

Shubh: buy an Air Tag. Yeah. Put

Brooke: it

Shubh: on your kid. And then tell, yell at your kid for not losing their water bottle.

Brooke: I'm trying all these things.

Shubh: Sh- Uh-

Brooke: Should I just... I don't think we need a rating on that one, 'cause I've already taken my idea back.

No, it's fine. I

Philippe: would like to give it a rating,

Brooke: but she withdrew.

Shubh: Oh, boy. Zero. She, she retracted- Zero. Brooke has retracted the idea, so I'm gonna do you the service of not rating. All right. Thank you. I'm gonna, I'm gonna give you a, a, a mulligan.

Philippe: Oh. Mulligan.

Brooke: Thank you. Thank you.

Philippe: Yeah. No, my zero's going on your permanent record.

Yeah.

Brooke: You will not be invited back.

Shubh: Yeah, your average-

Brooke: Season three- ... score just took- ... not happening

Shubh: with [00:46:00]

Philippe: Brooke ... a real hit. All right. Yeah. Let's, let's... I wanna hear your third.

Brooke: Okay, so the third one- Is it better than

Shubh: the second?

Brooke: I... Now I'm s- really thinking. Yeah. Like, I started on a high with- Yeah, yeah ... the bike wash- Yeah

and now I'm just trending down. Yeah. This one might be in the negative. Be

Shubh: prepared. But like I said earlier, you know, bands will have all their best, like, creative ideas for years, and then they will crush that first album. Sometimes it just, you know?

Brooke: One, one hit wonder?

Shubh: Well, no, they got a whole album, you know?

Brooke: I only

Shubh: have one. I won't say Noah Kahan's latest album. Honestly, it might be better than his last album.

Brooke: He's so good.

Shubh: Anyway, continue.

Philippe: I haven't, like, given it a heartful l- listen yet. Huh. I'm looking forward to doing that.

Brooke: Maybe for your next date?

Philippe: Next date. That's right. Just sit there and

Shubh: listen to music.

Philippe: You know, that's probably gonna be better than

Shubh: what

Philippe: we

Shubh: would do. Yeah. Track record's not great. Yeah. Let's just sit here quietly and listen to music.

Brooke: I think my... Like, one thing I think you could do is, like, when you meet somebody you like- Yeah ... you could have, like, a list of things. You could be like, "Do you describe things as happy, yes or no?" Ah. "Do you like to make out in [00:47:00] doorways, yes or no?"

Yeah. You know? And it's like she answers that, and you're like, "Hey"-

Shubh: This is great. Rita gave him the idea of to find out if a girl wants to date with him, to give him a little note with the checkboxes, like you do in elementary school. Yeah. You're just extending on that idea.

Brooke: 100%.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Rita's so smart.

Philippe: I like this

Shubh: idea.

Philippe: You guys- You guys were not, you guys were like- Yeah, it seemed like you guys were giving me the impression like you guys used to make out in the clubs a lot.

Brooke: Yes. But not me personally, Chris. Wait, I, I- Not me personally, Chris.

Philippe: When I was like, "I don't wanna be making out in the club," you guys were like, "Really?"

Well, we just thought-

Brooke: You did s- come across very conservative on that, on the- Yeah, yeah. It was

Shubh: like- Yeah, yeah ... It was like I do not believe in-

Brooke: Yeah ...

Shubh: w- public displays of

Brooke: affection. It was really like you were imagining everyone around you being like, "."

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: You know? Yeah. Which I don't, haven't been in a club in, like, 800 years, so maybe that's what people react to.

But-

Shubh: Yeah, maybe that is the thing. You know how we, the, if you lit up a cigarette now inside a club, people would be like, "Whoa, what are you doing?" 'Cause you can't do that. Maybe it's like that.

Brooke: I don't think you could ever do that when I was going to clubs, but-

Shubh: What?

Brooke: I don't [00:48:00] think so. Huh.

Shubh: Huh. Okay. Ah, that sounds great.

Brooke: It was like the wild, wild west when Shubh was going. Wait.

Shubh: Yeah. Oh, yeah. Gosh. Uh, the third-

Brooke: Yeah ...

Shubh: idea.

Brooke: Okay. This one, i- I don't have a name for it. Okay. But this is, like, a dashboard-

Shubh: Okay ...

Brooke: that's pulling together all of the critical things in your life that live on different platforms. So for exam- Shubs?

Shubh: Critical, like important or critical negative? Important. 'Cause I, I gotta check with you.

Brooke: This is, this is the thorn tracker. No.

Shubh: Yeah, it could be a, a thorn board.

Brooke: No, it's like- Dashthorn. It's like-

Shubh: Dashthorn ...

Brooke: it's like, for example- Sorry ... like, on our list, we're like, we need to... We had a conversation with someone about, like, 'cause this is, because we're not making out in clubs, so we're talking about- Yeah

car insurance is what we're doing. Yeah.

Shubh: Oh,

Brooke: nice. Um, and so you're like, "Oh," like, "do we have a million in, like, whatever type of coverage?"

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: And then someone's like, "Well, you should have three million." I'm like, "Oh my gosh, I should have three million." Yeah. But then you're like, "Okay, I gotta go to, like, TD. I gotta figure out what coverage we have.

When do those [00:49:00] plans renew? Oh, they automatically renew," and then-

Shubh: This is a legitimately good idea ...

Brooke: but not just that, it's also health. What health coverage do we have across our family, and how much are we using of each thing?

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: And, like, when does that one renew? Oh, Brooke, you've used 75% of your massage, and it's gonna renew in December, so, like, stop going every week.

And then it's also, like, kid stuff, like, oh, okay, like, you go to, you've got this next dentist appointment. Also, you have, you know, you need to be doing these contributions to... Like, we have all these different platforms for, like, RRSP and, like, all the insurance, all the things that are happening in life that you're like, you have to go to 800 different places, but I want somewhere to pull it in to go like, "Hey, this month don't forget these things," and, like, you should probably, you know...

Oh, and also you're not getting the ba- best rate on your insurance. This dashboard would actually go, "You should consider these other options. Oh, it looks like they're providing a discount. Oh, also your telephone is with Telus, but have you thought about..." Just pulls all of the pieces of the, like, home management [00:50:00] together into one dashboard and gives you recommendations.

Philippe: It's not a bad idea.

Shubh: I've thought a lot about the insurance one in particular because, like, you need, like You depend on an insurance broker to be like, "Hey, do your family have the right coverages in place?" And having been through what we've been through this year- Yeah ... I can tell you They don't always act in your best interest.

Brooke: No.

Shubh: Uh, I love that. Uh, yeah, the health stuff, the, uh, uh, all the insurance coverage things. Any of the critical other stuff? Today I was like, "Shit, I gotta do my corporate taxes."

Brooke: Yep

Shubh: And yes, I've got now a little GPT project that does one or two or three things, but I, there's no heads up display across it all.

Brooke: Another thing is, like, you know, f- over the years it's like, well, maybe you have, like, life insurance through someone- Yeah ... and then you went and got... You know, then you're with a n- you're [00:51:00] employee employer and you've got this insurance, but your spouse has this one and then-

Shubh: Yeah, you wanna keep a record of all your insurances together, see how they fit together.

And not just

Brooke: insurance, but all those pieces.

Shubh: And then have the little, uh, robot be like, "Hey man, you should probably have this insurance too."

Brooke: Yeah. And all-

Shubh: Or you know what? You can actually now get rid of this policy because you are at the place where you don't need it.

Brooke: And it makes the, like, it makes the recommendations because- Do

Shubh: we sound old as fuck right now, Philippe?

Brooke: Philippe is sleeping. He's like, "This is so boring."

Shubh: He's like, "Yeah, this idea is so boring."

Brooke: But also, like-

Philippe: Please remind me I gotta pay taxes too.

Brooke: Yes. But do you see what I mean? Or it's like you're like, "Hey, remind me about what installments I should make." Yeah. "Remind me," like all these things where you're like, here's what's happening across our life, and like we are very organized.

And I'm still like, "Oh man, my car registry, did I do it?" And it's like, yeah, I think so. But you know, you get their reminder and their crummy reminders- Yeah ... and then you're like putting it in your Google Calendar being like, next year on June 7th.

Shubh: Rita and I were out shopping about five years ago, and she walks out and she looks at the back of my car and she's like, "Uh, when was the last time [00:52:00] you had your, like, uh, car registration renewed?"

I was like, "I don't know. I think I'm pretty sure I did it." She's like, "Uh, this is three years ago."

Brooke: Literally. And I feel like-

Shubh: So, yeah ...

Brooke: everybody has had that. Yeah. Everyone has had that. Yeah. Because again, it's like you're responsible for tracking it.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: And before the world of AI being able to pull everything in so fast, it's like you would...

If it were you or me, like we have, like, on our calendar, it's like our furnace needs to get-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Brooke: cleaned and oh, we gotta- Oh, change

Shubh: the furnace filters. Yeah ...

Brooke: change the fur- oh, we, every year we have to get the chimney swept. Every year we have to do whatever the thing is. You have

Shubh: to get your chimney swept.

Oh, and first you have to travel back in time to 1890.

Brooke: You're jealous of our wood stove. Do you

Shubh: have to get your lamps lit as well? Is there like a lamp lighter that comes out? You got a, you got a wood stove? It's like, "Top of the morning to you." Do you have to do that once a year?

Brooke: Yeah.

Shubh: Your chimney swept?

Brooke: Yeah.

Philippe: Oh, that's good to know. Your chimney has to get-

Brooke: Okay. I feel like Philippe is leaving this with so much anxiety. Do you have a- He's like, "I have all these things" ... do you

Shubh: have a gas fireplace?

Philippe: Um, well, we got a, we got a, at the cabin, we got a couple wood fireplaces. You got a [00:53:00] fireplace?

Shubh: Yeah. Okay. You

Philippe: gotta get that cleaned out at

Shubh: some point.

Brooke: In the sauna,

Shubh: too. Ooh, nice. Yeah.

Philippe: Wood, woods, wood stove- Yeah. Yeah, yeah ... in the sauna. Pretty nice. Pretty nice. But then, um, we're terrified that that thing catches at some point. Chimney fire, whole things goes up. Not insured if that happens.

Brooke: Yeah, because you don't know.

Shubh: Because you don't have sauna insurance.

Brooke: And you don't have AI telling you. We,

Philippe: we don't, we literally don't have sauna insurance. Um, and so-

Brooke: And then layer pets on that. Pet insurance. Oh my

Shubh: God. Like,

Brooke: to me it's like e- it's everything. I actually

Shubh: think you have multiple ideas here. I think you have one standalone idea that's like a personal risk manager.

Brooke: Yes.

Shubh: And then you've got the other idea, which is maybe the personal risk manager rolls up to that, which is all the other stuff in your life that you gotta keep track of.

Brooke: Yep.

Shubh: I like it. Chris could just build this, though. Why does he need- Do you know what

Brooke: Chris built us?

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Chris found this- Chris

Shubh: leaned into AI a little bit on his sabbatical

Brooke: leaned, former software engineer before he became a physician, and he's, like, done all this AI in medicine over his sabbatical.

Shubh: I just sound stupid, hey? [00:54:00] Software engineer and a neuro- Yeah ... neuro, neuro- not a neurosurgeon. I'm pretty

Brooke: sure he also had, like, a 4.0 in software

Shubh: engineering ... neurologist. So software engineer and neurologist, he must be the, the dumbest guy you've ever met.

Philippe: Yeah, and just from my knowledge, what's a neurologist?

Shubh: A brain doctor.

Philippe: Okay. Yeah.

Shubh: Brain doctor, but doesn't- that doesn't cut it up.

Brooke: Doesn't cut it up.

Philippe: Oh, I see. Yeah. That's a neurosurgeon. Yeah, you

Brooke: got

Philippe: it. Yeah. Yeah, of course. That makes a ton of sense.

Brooke: So he found this, like... Ooh, he found this, like, magnetic screen- Yeah

but very simple because we didn't want our kids playing around with it. Yeah. Goes on the fridge, and he has our calendars all pulling into it so we can see, like, life in the Hans for that week, which there's tools that do that.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: And then he was, like, found this tool that he pushed in all of our favorite recipes, and then it goes out to the internet and finds lookalike recipes that, based on what we like.

And then he has it populate on Saturday morning an email to us that says, "Pick a meal for each day, two options per day." Then he took that and has it push [00:55:00] automatically to our shopping list for non-staple items to make sure that we get the groceries for the ones that we've selected. Then it pushes the menu to this little screen.

Then he added a view of smoke index for the summer, snow index for the winter, and all of this is on this little... It just rotates through. It's so cool.

Shubh: That's really cool. I really like the food one. I'd like to acquire that.

Brooke: Okay. You can purchase that from Chris Han.

Shubh: Uh, speaking of screens, did you guys see this screen?

It's

Brooke: so good.

Philippe: So

Shubh: good. We talking... It's got our logo. This is our... I, I said we got two logos. We got the professional logo, and this is the, uh, I like to call this the street logo.

Brooke: I like the street one.

Shubh: But look at... It's like a canvas. This or... I don't know what the boys did here. It's like some kind of... It's from the past, but also from the future.

Philippe: This is a nice TV, too.

Shubh: Yeah. I didn't even know it was a TV when I walked in. I just thought it was, like, a...

Philippe: The iframe. Um- Yeah ... what do you think of this, uh-

Shubh: [00:56:00] Uh-

Philippe: Stuff we just did.

Shubh: I like the personal, uh, risk piece. I'm gonna rate that independently the whole thing- Okay ... 'cause I actually think there's just, there's a real idea there.

Uh, I'm gonna give that one, uh,

Brooke: 62. Okay.

Shubh: Because I think you could make money off it, 'cause then you get all these people coming in to do their thing, and then they... Yeah.

Philippe: I, call me crazy and old-fashioned But my work is so organized But we're not talking about work right now. It's 'cause you don't have dependents.

We're

Brooke: talking about life. I think it's 'cause you don't

Philippe: have dependents. But maybe not. No, no, no.

Shubh: Work can be organized. My work is very organized. My life is

Brooke: bloop,

Philippe: ba-dap-dap-dee, skip-a-dap-bow. But that's, but, but what I was g- the point I was trying to make is I kinda like it.

Shubh: You like a little chaos?

Philippe: I like a little chaos.

I like a little, "Oh, shit." You are a nominee.

Shubh: You like the adrenaline rush of being like, "Oh my God, my passport's expiring."

Philippe: Right. Like, I think- Passport

Brooke: renewals.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: All of these things. Driver's license. Yeah, yeah. Oh, it's so good.

Philippe: Yeah, exactly. I just had to do my passport recently. But I think it would be kind of fun to [00:57:00] be driving and get pulled over and be like, "Your license is expired."

Can

Brooke: I tell you a story that's, that is not fun, is that my husband and his friend had a bike trip planned, and then the night before his friend realized his passport had expired and they had to cancel the entire trip.

Shubh: Oh, are they still friends? Whoa.

Brooke: For now. No, I'm just joking. Yeah, they're still

Shubh: friends.

Um, I forgot to submit my junior high school, uh, class registration when I was in elementary in sixth grade 'cause it got stuffed to the bottom of my backpack. Oh boy, did I get in a lot of trouble.

Philippe: Were you not enrolled for-

Shubh: Uh, well then I didn't get the options I wanted, so I, uh- Got rid of it ... I had to take drama.

Drama? That doesn't feel like much of a stretch. Which although it seems like today's Shubh would love drama, back nerd Shubh was like, "I'm very uncomfortable." So.

Philippe: But it might've helped you.

Brooke: Yeah, look where it got him.

Shubh: I, it did not. The, the cool kids made so much fun of us.

Philippe: Oh, really?

Shubh: Yeah, it hurt a little.

But where are they now? You came with- Probably super successful. Uh, okay Brooke, uh, I [00:58:00] think you did, uh, you sandwiched these ideas.

Brooke: I did, yes. You got

Shubh: a nice, nice ta- start, tough middle.

Brooke: Mm.

Shubh: Pretty good finish.

Brooke: All right.

Shubh: How was your second time on the pod given that

Brooke: we have- I

Shubh: just- ... three minutes till we gotta wrap

Brooke: if you guys ever need a third host or if somebody goes on vacation, you gotta record- Yeah ... like I nominate myself-

Shubh: Okay ...

Brooke: as an interim host.

Shubh: Uh- That actually is kinda handy to know.

Brooke: I would l- it would be m- I, I... try and get me outta here.

Shubh: Yeah. Uh, you know, maybe Phil will say he'll have you on his other show and then- Well, he

Brooke: hasn't yet-

and then he won't

Shubh: have you on ...

Brooke: and I'm still- ... waiting for any kind of invite.

Shubh: Yeah.

Brooke: Because you said we were all friends, but-

Shubh: Yeah

Brooke: Phil and I are not friends

Shubh: yet. Yeah, she's, uh, Brooke's a CEO. You should get her onto one of the segments where she comments on something.

Philippe: That'd be really cool.

Brooke: Well, it sounds like he doesn't follow through on those, so.

Shubh: Yeah. Or you could have a- You could, you could, you could have, you could have a Brooke, you could have a Brooke Ca- Brooke Hahn segment where you come on and everybody's really positive about what's going on in Calgary in tech. [00:59:00] And she could just be like, "Well." Yeah. Wah, wah, wah. Wah. Yeah, though, uh, uh, sure, Helcim had a big raise, but is their office gonna be big enough for all these people?

Please

Philippe: don't. That would actually be awesome.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: A w- thorns with, with Brooke Hahn.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

Brooke: Sure. Bring down the level a bit, you know?

Shubh: Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Sure, a lot of founders from Canada are moving to America, but w- Isn't

Philippe: it a nicer place?

Shubh: Where, what, what's

Brooke: the s- But aren't we just gonna be part of it soon?

Shubh: Yeah. No. Yeah, that, there it is.

Brooke: Too soon.

Shubh: Well, Brooke, uh, I'm super happy you came back.

Brooke: Thanks for having me, guys. That's

Philippe: it. This was great. That's all I gotta say. It's so awesome to have you back. Yeah. But I'm, I must say, I'm a little disappointed that nothing's happening with this bike wash.

Brooke: It will someday.

Someday it will. Someone will do it or I'll do it. We gotta

Philippe: b- you know, I wanna s- I wanna use it. I know. You know what they

Shubh: say about someday. It's not today

Philippe: Yesterday you said tomorrow

Shubh: Yeah. [01:00:00] The greatest gift is the present.

Brooke: This feels very... Wow. Thank you.

Shubh: What do you think about the greatest gift is the present?

I think I stole that from Kung Fu Panda, actually.

Brooke: Yeah, it feels like it's been used somewhere.

Shubh: Yeah.
