Philippe: [00:00:00] All right, we're recording.

Shubh: Mother-

Lucas: Are we actually? ...

Shubh: fucking-

Philippe: Now we are.

Shubh: Yeah. Did you hit record? Yeah. Did you hit record?

Lucas: Great. This is-

Shubh: I can't hear anything.

Lucas: Great cold open.

Shubh: Uh, get everybody's sound checked up

Philippe: What up? Thank you for setting up the podcast room, Shubh.

Yeah. As you sat here

Shubh: and caught up. What, uh, episode is this? 26, 27, 28. 28. Is it

Lucas: actually?

Philippe: Episode 28, baby. More than half of a year.

Lucas: That's insane.

Philippe: In this room that consistently gets worse.

Lucas: Yeah, it also gets hotter, I realize.

Shubh: It gets sweatier

Lucas: as it- Every time it goes on.

Shubh: Uh, well, can you... Fine, you know what?

Fuck it.

Philippe: Fuck it, we ball.

Shubh: Fuck it, we ball. [00:01:00] We're just gonna get into it.

Philippe: Let's go.

Lucas: Are we? Okay. All

Shubh: right. Yeah, because we're 20 minutes late. Uh, welcome to episode 28 of Your Business Is On The Line, Canada's number one business comedy podcast, the podcast where serious people come on and pitch unserious business ideas.

Philippe: Lucas Scheer Wait,

Shubh: no, you have to- Oh ... uh, geez, every fucking time

Philippe: I'm so excited.

Shubh: Philippe Burns, co-host. Philippe, hello. Hello. Spoiler alert, Lucas Scheer, special guest-

Lucas: Hey, guys ...

Shubh: founder of Pureland AI, Pureland.ai. Is that the right website?

Lucas: That's our website.

Shubh: Pureland?

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, Pureland Technologies.

Shubh: Uh, career revenue leader and operator who started a tech company, uh, and it's going pretty well, Lucas.

Lucas: That's my favorite thing about, about running companies like this is, like, people on the outside are, are like, "Oh," like, "it's going so great," like, "good to see you guys," like, it's like, [00:02:00] is it?

Shubh: Yeah. I mean, we've all done it. We know what going great actually means.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah.

Shubh: It means it's, it's, you're still alive.

Lucas: Yeah. And- Oh, we're alive, yeah ...

Shubh: and, uh- Absolutely ... everything hurts all the time.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: But it's fun.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah. I bumped into Niall this morning and we were commiserating about that, so.

Philippe: Yeah. Have

Lucas: you been on the pod?

Philippe: No, Niall hasn't been yet.

Shubh: Niall, come on the pod. Yeah.

Lucas: We

Shubh: should get him on. I've met Niall.

Philippe: Really?

Shubh: Yeah. Oh, you two have been, uh- I just know him, uh, in passing through, uh, Ships in the Night.

Philippe: Uh, Lucas, I... So we share an office space. Yeah. Techstars in Pureland.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: And i- I was away in Europe, and then you were away in Toronto. We haven't seen each other in three weeks, and the first th- Is that right?

Yeah. The first thing we're catching up on is- Well- ... this

Shubh: podcast ... that's not true. That's- The first, the first thing you caught up on was me setting up this podcast room again for 30 minutes. Yeah.

Philippe: Yeah. Shubh was just buzzing around-

Shubh: Got, got to have taken

Philippe: care of ... and, and we were catching

Shubh: up. I will say it's a demonstrable improvement from last week.

Lucas: Are you... Really?

Shubh: Yeah. There, there was, uh, there was, there was multiple chairs stacked up s- 'cause we didn't have enough stands. Um, we had the laptop just [00:03:00] floating in the ether.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Uh, and I bought another camera late last night 'cause I was like, "Fuck, it's too hard to edit."

Lucas: Yeah, for a guy- Yeah ... who hates cameras, I mean, and video, this

Shubh: place- I have so many-

has a

Lucas: lot of

Shubh: cameras ... this is so s- Yeah ... you know, the one thing I said to Phil at the beginning, and Chaz was like, "Hey, man, you gotta do video," I was like, "I'm not fucking doing video 'cause it's gonna be a lot of work, and I don't know how to do it."

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: And here we are.

Philippe: And it is a lot of work.

Shubh: It's, it's, uh...

I've gone back to the beginning of how much work the podcast was when I had it down to, like, a couple hours a week. Anyway, uh- And you have no idea

Philippe: what you're doing.

Shubh: Enough about, enough about, enough about me. Um, Lucas, uh, do you, you, uh... Phil says I have to keep these parts short, but, uh- Okay ... tell us a bit about yourself.

Lucas: About me? Um, well, my name's Lucas. Mm-hmm. I'm a longtime listener- ... uh, of the pod, I gotta say. Um-

Shubh: You were, uh, you, your feedback, I would say, on the first podcast episode was a big part of the reason we continued doing it

Lucas: Was that, was that Seb?

Shubh: That was Seb, yeah.

Lucas: Man, like what a legend. Yeah. You gotta give him his flowers.

Like, you guys still rank everything based [00:04:00] on how Seb- He

Shubh: is- Yeah, yeah. He is- He is the, the f- the voice that launched 1,000 ships.

Lucas: Like, the pressure that's on me right now to not be absolute dog shit is, is very high. After your first guest was my co-founder. If

Shubh: I've learned any- You just

Lucas: crushed.

Shubh: If I, if I've learned anything from working in tech, as the, uh, co-founder and operator, Seb- Yeah

has already done all the heavy lifting.

Lucas: Uh, he's the best. Yeah.

Shubh: You're just the face.

Lucas: Yeah. I-

Shubh: You're just the handsome face.

Lucas: If that. If-

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Just the mustache.

Lucas: I've got him doing demos now. Like, I don't even have to do that anymore. You,

Shubh: you- You've led and worked r- in revenue for a lot of tech companies.

Lucas: Yeah. Sorry, you asked me... Yeah, so- No,

Shubh: no, I don't care about me. So- And I don't really care. I'm just, you know, the listeners are like, "Well, what's Lucas all about?"

Lucas: Yeah. So yeah, professionally, I've been, uh, early... Last 15 years or so, been early at, uh, a bunch of companies I'm really proud of.

Shubh: Yep.

Lucas: Uh, helped build a consulting company in, in tech.

Uh, spun out a couple products from there, De Facto. Yep. Uh, spent a lot of time there. Really, really love those guys. Went on to work with Corey Janson at AltaML and helped build out, you know, their product business and, you know, [00:05:00] different regions that they, they now operate in. And then I was with Neal.

That's where I met Phil.

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: Uh, was there for a few years and was, again, all over that, uh, that company in a few different areas, and yeah, now with PureLand.

Shubh: Uh, you wanna tell the people what PureLand does? I think you're one of the few AI native startups in Calgary.

Lucas: Yeah, I think it's really interesting.

L- loan origination is, is one of the, like, last remaining spaces where there's just, like, really no automation. The work happens exactly the same way that it did even 30 years ago, and that's true globally. So PureLand is a AI native, first of its kind loan origination system for banks and non-bank lenders.

We're starting in mortgages, but expanding from there. Uh, and there's a lot that's really unique about the product. We're, we're pretty stoked.

Shubh: Mortgage, mortgage brokers out there? Yeah. Lenders? Lenders? Who, who am I, who am I pitching to right

Lucas: now? Oh. Oh, uh, both, for sure.

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: That's, that's one of the things [00:06:00] that's really unique about, about what we're up to.

There's just, like, such strong networks between brokers and lenders- Yep ... and not enough- Net-

Shubh: network. Would you say there's network effect?

Lucas: I'd say there's very strong network effect. Ding. Yeah, right? And, uh, and so that's, that's something that's really unique about, about what we're doing. Not only are there these opportunities to create tools for, say, an underwriter or a broker to just get the do- job done more quickly, but, like, fundamentally, something that struck me working at Neo as we built a mortgage brokerage, as we became a, a mortgage lender in Canada, was just, like, the repetition of work and how manual it was, and it's just, like, this broken system.

Shubh: Yep.

Lucas: There's so much that we can do to better take advantage of those network effects. Thank you, Phil.

Shubh: Philippe. Phil. That, that creaking, that creaking sound is Philippe adjusting the microphone.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah. He's teaching me how to use a microphone. S-

Shubh: sound effects.

Lucas: Rah.

Shubh: If you're gonna be a tech... If you're gonna be a fucking AI native tech founder, Lucas, you gotta get, you gotta get used to this shit.

Lucas: I've... I just wanna, [00:07:00] I just wanna... Like, can you just Take a video of Chaz for me, like, as he's re- Yeah ... like, for just, like, a reaction video of, of what just happened I

Shubh: really miss having Chaz on the pod.

Lucas: Yeah. I w- I was, I was saying, I was saying to you when I walked in, I was like, "Oh, I thought Chaz was gonna be here.

I was really looking forward to, uh, to meeting him."

Shubh: This real job shit of his is not appropriate.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: We

Lucas: gotta cut that out. Okay,

Philippe: he's, he's painting

Shubh: now. But listen, hey, guys, if you're a mortgage broker, a mortgage l- uh, a lender- Yeah ... loan, loan originator, banks- Yeah ... banks-

Lucas: Love banks ...

Shubh: banks, uh, bank adjacent, mortgage- Yeah

mortgage adjacent, what are, what are you doing?

Philippe: But you guys are also crushing it. Like, you guys are- Absolutely crushing it ... bootstrapped, hiring. You guys have a team of six on bootstrap revenue.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Uh, and you guys have four open roles? Five open roles?

Lucas: Yeah, we do. I- it was really important to us when we, when we started this company, you know, we all had the experience of, of Neo, which I think was, obviously, an exceptional experience.

Yeah. You know, being able to raise that kind of capital and go in so many different directions at once is just an absolute superpower. We, as [00:08:00] we were starting PureLin, we're really looking at, how can we kind of take a different approach where we could even artificially constrain the resources that we had to force the focus necessary to very, very quickly find product market fit?

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: And that worked really well for us. We were, we were, you know, really three people for the longest time, uh, four people, and as we started to kind of see over the next horizon, the next on, on what the opportunity was really gonna... how it was gonna take shape, how big that opportunity would be, we started to hit these sort of successive inf- inflection points in the business where we could move forward with a lot of confidence to say, "Okay, this is exactly what we need to be when we grow up."

Philippe: Yeah, yeah.

Lucas: And because we were, we were sort of forcing that focus for so long, you know, maybe even a month or two too long, frankly, um, we've got cash in the bank. Yeah. And so we are, we are actively doubling the size of the team right now. We recently hired a, a head of partner success.

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: [00:09:00] We're growing the engineering team.

We're putting out another offer, uh, this afternoon.

Philippe: Wow.

Lucas: And, you know, we're really excited. You know, it's not to say we, you know, we would never raise money or anything like that, but it was just really important for us that- Early days we wanna get super focused and through lived experience, see over those horizons and know what we wanted to be when we grew up before we went out and raised a bunch of money and had a whole bunch of- Yeah, yeah

other people you gotta please.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah. Also, it's pretty fucking nice to do whatever you want.

Lucas: Yeah. I think if we- ... if we were ever to take on outside investors, that would be a big adjustment, right?

Shubh: Yeah. '

Lucas: Cause that's literally true. Like- Yeah ... you can just decide what to do and do it, and it allows you to move super, super quickly.

Shubh: Yeah. I like I'm only in here every couple weeks, and I, I, I just be like, "Hey, how's it going?" And all they do is talk about how many more customers they have. That's...

Philippe: I'm

Shubh: like, Lucas- I mean- I can tell how, I can tell how- How many

Philippe: hundreds of

Shubh: thousands of dollars ... I can, I can tell how happy and grumpy Lucas is by how quickly they're growing.

Philippe: Right.

Shubh: If they're growing really- Yeah ... [00:10:00] quickly, he's happy and grumpy. If they're, uh, not growing, he's only grumpy.

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, pretty grumpy guy generally. Yeah.

Philippe: I don't think that's true. No,

Lucas: I don't think so

Shubh: either. No, you're just, uh, you're focused.

Philippe: Lucas, the only reason you haven't been on the podcast is because every time you ask to be on the podcast, you're like, "I have a great idea," and then you pitch really weird things in passing.

Like-

Lucas: Yeah ...

Philippe: like, we should have a geese purge

Lucas: is always ... Oh, I forgot about that one. We should definitely talk about that. I made a list of things- Uh ... and that's not on it. I'm so glad you reminded me about that.

Shubh: I, uh-

Lucas: I feel strongly about that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

Shubh: Speaking of geese purge, I got two quick things from my day yesterday.

Yeah. I know this is about the guest.

Philippe: Okay.

Shubh: Uh, there was a dead magpie in our yard yesterday. Yeah. Um, Philippe knows I don't love birds.

Philippe: Okay. He hates birds.

Shubh: Uh, Reid and I had to take-

Philippe: It's probably there because Shubh killed it.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: I actually, I do think it might have f- I don't know, can't confirm, it might have flown into the glass backboard of our basketball hoop.

Philippe: Oh.

Shubh: I don't know. Okay. Anywho, I had to put the- Yeah,

Philippe: OGN and [00:11:00] Obi put it there ...

Shubh: I had to put the bird in the, in the trash, double bagged into the garbage.

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: I thought I was gonna... I didn't think I was gonna make it, fellas. I had Rita out to come help me. She was like, "I'll just..." She's like- What? She's like, "We're gonna tag team it."

So I don't like dead birds, uh, any more than the next guy. Well,

Lucas: you're gonna hate this first idea. Uh,

Shubh: and then, uh, remember my buddy Chuck who came on the podcast? Yeah. We went and watched Chuck's, uh, flag football team last night. The Turtles. Shout out the Turtles. Rita bought, uh, Turtles, the snack, the-

Philippe: Oh, I love those

Shubh: and then Turtles the chi- snack. There's the ones they stuff with something, and then we got some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle masks, and we were the only eight people there at this game.

Philippe: Yeah. It- It's so fun ...

Shubh: it was a lot of fun. So, um- So they win? They did.

Philippe: Wow.

Shubh: Huge. They beat, they beat a bunch of kids that were way younger than they are.

Lucas: That's important.

Shubh: Yeah. Um, anyway, that was just an aside. Just a personal- ... a personal aside.

Lucas: I like how you segued a story about a dead bird into a story about candy.[00:12:00]

Shubh: It's one of my gifts, Lucas.

Lucas: It's incredible. Uh,

Shubh: yeah.

Philippe: Oh,

Shubh: nice. Oh, yeah. Great. Okay. Oh, good.

Lucas: Oh. I- You guys heard that too? Yeah.

Philippe: Just some active construction going on. I

Shubh: cannot wait till we pick up all that construction noise. Hey, Phil, remember when I said, "Hey, maybe we should go record at Clark's studio," and you're like, "I don't know, Shubh.

It's, like, a four-minute commute for me"? Okay. Well, uh, for those of you out there who hear a bunch of construction noise in the background- Yeah ... you're gonna have to fucking deal with it.

Philippe: They're gonna love it.

Shubh: Yeah. We do not have a way to get rid of it. I don't even know if we can do that in post.

Philippe: We'll figure it out.

You'll figure it out.

Shubh: Yeah. Uh, if there's any, uh, content creators out there know how to take, uh, drilling out of the background- Yeah ... of a podcast, uh, I'll just make that noise periodically so people won't know. I'll be like- Don't. I'll react to what Lucas says. Instead of my laugh, I'll change my laugh to, like, brr.

Philippe: Yeah, yeah.

Shubh: That's how I'm laughing today. Okay. You hear that sound, that's a laugh.

Lucas: Hi, everybody. It's Shubh here. Are you a startup founder or a

Shubh: scale-up exec [00:13:00] that's trying to take your company to the next level? Are you looking for the right people to help you do it? Are you looking for people who will help you set culture, who have deep domain expertise, who can figure anything out, who are Swiss Army knives and unicorns?

How are you finding those people? Are you juggling multiple job boards? Are you screening hundreds of resumes, doing dozens of interviews? Is it working? I bet it's not. Are you frustrated? I bet you are. Do you know how I know that? Because once upon a time, I was you. Then I discovered the New Network.

Jennifer Wiens and her team at the New Network help Canadian tech companies build and scale high-performance teams through a proven unique approach to recruitment and executive search. Also, they're awesome. I used them to help build most of my team at ZayZoon, and I would use them again, and I've recommended them to everyone that I know.

Check out

Lucas: newnetwork.ca for more details. The New Network: I couldn't have done it without them.

Shubh: So Lucas, uh, a [00:14:00] highly successful operator. Uh, I think founding one of the most interesting companies in this town. Thank you. And I don't say that lightly. How you're building, how you're growing, kind of to Phil's point, how you guys have like, uh...

You, you, I mean, you and I talked like, I don't know, it was a year and a half ago, right? And you had this great plan to build. Like, "Hey, is there customer interest in what we're doing?" Mm-hmm. And you determined that there was. Then you built what those customers wanted, and then you executed on that build, and then you've continued to execute.

And, uh, I'm a huge fan of what you guys are doing, and Seb is, uh, the great.

Lucas: Yeah. And wait. Wait's, wait's great too. Yeah, that, that means a lot coming from you, Shubh. Yeah.

Shubh: What, about the Seb thing you mean?

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah. Yeah. Well, you can put that in his s- when's his 360 review coming up? You can say Shubh had some nice things to say about him.

Lucas: Yeah, I'll let him know. Yeah,

Shubh: I know how you love HR

Lucas: teams. Yeah.

Philippe: You d- yeah, you guys definitely have

Lucas: some nice things to say. Let's not.

Shubh: Let's just... Yeah. It's, uh, Lucas and I's separate podcast. Oh, what teams do we think we don't need anymore? Um, okay. Great. Uh, [00:15:00] Lucas, you brought some paper in with a pen.

Lucas: Yeah.

I have a list.

Shubh: Do you have an idea that you would like to pitch Philippe and I today?

Lucas: I have several. Are we gonna talk about the goose murder thing?

Shubh: Uh, I think- Shubh, we can ... hold on a sec. Can I just, uh... I don't wanna say I'm doing this, uh... What I'm gonna suggest-

Lucas: Yeah ...

Shubh: uh, given the success you're having.

Lucas: Tone it down?

Shubh: Why, why don't we see what you got instead of that one, and then if we need it, we'll pull it up.

Lucas: I don't think the goose murder thing is, is, is all that offensive. Okay. Like, like Phil's hurted. Like, you can stop me if this is gonna get me canceled, but I doubt it. Like, nobody likes Canada geese.

Philippe: Yeah, yeah. And they are very annoying. They're horrible. They're horrible. Like, they'll move- So

Shubh: on, on the way back from this football game yesterday, geese was straight up eyeballing my youngest daughter.

Lucas: Right?

Shubh: She's like, "Oh, the bird." I was like, "You stay away from that bird."

Lucas: Right. You would not think twice about- Shooting

snoozing that goose if- ... if it came anywhere near your daughter, right? Shooting

Philippe: the goose. Yeah.

Lucas: Like-

Philippe: So what's

Lucas: the- You wouldn't even think twice. So I, you know, I'm a city kid, obviously. Yeah, yeah. But, you know, I'm... [00:16:00] And, uh, I always thought Canada geese were, like, this, like, majestic, pretty annoying animal. It actually turns out that a lot of people outside of the city will hunt geese 'cause they're pretty tasty

Shubh: Yeah, like a, a Tiny Tim.

Lucas: Sure.

Shubh: The Christmas goose.

Lucas: Right, right.

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: So, uh, I just think, like, I was really inspired by the movie The Purge. Like, I think just, like, one time a year in the fall, like, so, you know, no young geese.

Shubh: Yep.

Lucas: These, these things are all over the place. They've terrorized us all summer. Like, just give us a day back.

You know, just give us a day where- You're talking about a goose

Shubh: purge ...

Lucas: I'm talking about a goose purge.

Philippe: And we get some meat in the fridge.

Lucas: We get some meat in the fridge. Like, it's a win-win, win-win, win. Right. Now, no-

Shubh: I mean, I do like the, the hunger angle.

Lucas: Yeah, exactly. So, you know, no firearms, no explosives.

Yeah. Like, nothing that's gonna- So Will is like- ... allow for any collatical- collateral damage ...

Shubh: Will sh- Yeah, I think, uh- So- ... I think I'm probably gonna cut this for Lucas' benefit.

Lucas: Are you? Okay. Well-

Shubh: Well, no. So- I mean, I love it ...

Philippe: [00:17:00] you should keep it in.

Shubh: But what if, what if, uh, he... What if, okay, so let's just fast-forward a couple years.

Uh, y- Giant global banking deal on the table. Yeah. Lucas is, is, he's signed LU, right?

Philippe: And then someone's listening to this podcast.

Shubh: And then someone's like, "Oh, wow." "

Philippe: We actually hate the geese." And then they're gonna go, "Well, we

Shubh: hate geese too." Yeah, exactly. Nobody, who's- No, no. They're gonna- Or, or, my mother was a goose.

Philippe: What? You know?

Lucas: I'm-

Shubh: You guys read that in there?

Lucas: Good looking out. Good looking out, Shubh. Thank you.

Shubh: Thank you. Uh- Yeah ... no, okay. I think what, uh- Great idea ... uh, I think what Lucas is saying is, uh, the, there are a lot of geese.

Lucas: Well, and they're terrorizing us,

Shubh: I think. Well, I- We can work with this ... remember a few years ago the city- The City of Calgary hired these people who were supposed to be, like, like a couple of people.

This was, like, two decades ago. They got paid a lot of money to do, like, a we will get rid of the geese. By just, like, I guess annoying them? It did not work. Oh,

Lucas: really?

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: How did they annoy them?

Shubh: I don't know, but clearly it didn't work. Yeah. I, I would've liked to just walk around, "Quack, [00:18:00] quack, quack." "How do you like that?"

Philippe: Yeah, this isn't so nice, is it?

Shubh: Yeah, you like that shit, goose?

Lucas: Yeah. You said, "That shit?" That's more, that's

Shubh: more on point. Yeah. I, I also learned from my niece they're called cobra chickens.

Philippe: Oh, f- if you're not in Canada?

Shubh: Uh, no, no, I think just colloquially they're called cobra chickens. Oh, okay. 'Cause you were making that sound.

That sounded like a cobra, right?

Philippe: Oh, okay. Oh, yeah,

Shubh: that makes

Lucas: sense.

Philippe: That's a cool name. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. I don't think anyone would get it if you called

Shubh: it that. Well, I don't know. I think it's pretty- Canada geese is- I think it's a pretty cool idea for like- ... they look real ... like a clothing line.

Philippe: Um, yeah, it's a good idea.

I feel like there's other animals I would also- Yeah ... like we did a great job of eradicating rats.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Fair enough. But I think the geese provide some value, though.

Lucas: Yeah, I'm not suggesting- You know, to the ecosystem ... we eradicate.

Shubh: No, you're just saying- Like,

Lucas: why are they in the city?

Shubh: You're saying take the edge off a little.

Lucas: Yeah. Take the edge off, discourage them from being in the city.

Shubh: Yeah. I mean, I'm- Problem solved ... I'm, I mean, I don't want this to sound too, uh, uh, too privileged, but I'm golfing this afternoon.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Sometimes the geese just don't move on the golf course.

Philippe: So what, [00:19:00] you hit 'em?

Shubh: I don't, I don't have that in my...

Like, I, even if I tried- Yeah ... I would guess about 40 yards. Uh, okay, so listen, uh, animal people out there, we don't need letters. This isn't an animal- No ... what we're talking about is the humane, uh-

Philippe: No, I this does not sound humane. This is a slaughter. No. Yeah. This is like- Well, a purge.

Lucas: A

Philippe: purge ... a purge.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Yeah. But people- People are walking around with nooses and knives.

Lucas: Well, and to be fair, they, they fight back. It's not like this is like- Yeah. ... all one-sided. That is

Shubh: true, yeah. People, and people do eat geese, right? Like, they were- Yeah ... they were the turke- That's what I'm saying ... they were turkeys before turkeys were cool.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: We really wouldn't lose that many, I feel like, 'cause not that many people are that keen to do it. I,

Lucas: I could e- I don't know. Listen- I could e- ... most people I talk to about this are a lot more keen than you two are. I- I bet your li- your listenership- I could

Shubh: not

Lucas: e- ... is skyrocket ...

Shubh: I could not even pick up a dead magpie, so I would be out.

Philippe: I, what's next for you?

Lucas: Okay, well, I'm skipping the first one. If that, if that one was too spicy, I definitely can't-

Shubh: No,

Philippe: no, no, no, hit it. Hit it.

Shubh: It's not too spicy. I wanna J- don't self ... Listen, you don't need to, [00:20:00] you don't need to self, uh, censor

Lucas: Okay, I'm gonna, I'm gonna start with- Shubh will censor for you

Philippe: I've

Shubh: pr- I've protected Philippe this whole time.

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: I'm j- I'm skipping forward to the, to the main one. As this podcast has- Okay, and you guys are gonna have to help me make this entertaining for the next 30 minutes. Um, okay, so it's called Coutureland.

Philippe: Coutureland?

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Oh, my God. Is it lending people money for fancy clothes?

Lucas: Oh, maybe that's what it ... No.

No, so I've been traveling a lot for work, right? Okay. Like, flying back and forth to Toronto all the time. Yep. Like, every second week.

Shubh: Yep.

Lucas: And every time I go, it's like the price for even just the carry-on, it goes up and up and up. Now it's like 70 bucks each way- Ooh ... just to, just to bring a carry-on. Not even a checked bag, just for your carry-on.

Philippe: Yes, I love where this is going.

Lucas: Yeah. So-

Philippe: Is this on Air Canada?

Lucas: I fly Flair, actually. Oh. Yeah, we're pretty, we're pretty budget conscious. Oh. Like, I can't afford Air Canada and the points and- You're

Shubh: just saying he's not venture backed.

Lucas: Yeah, yeah, exactly. We're bootstrap, Philippe.

Shubh: Yeah. You should try Porter, though.

You ever tried Porter?

Lucas: Uh, we can talk about this. Um- I hate [00:21:00] Porter, actually.

Shubh: Oh.

Lucas: Yeah. They- That's crazy ... 'cause I go for the base fare, right? Oh, okay. Like, I will not, I will not spend any money on any extras. Yeah. Are

Shubh: you just wearing all your clothes, uh, like Joey-

Lucas: Yeah ... in- I, well, we'll get into my system in a minute-

Shubh: Yeah

Lucas: 'cause it's relevant to the story. Yeah. But, uh, Porter- Yeah ... on their basic fare, you cannot get a boarding pass online. You have to go to- Oh ... the-

Shubh: Kiosk ...

Lucas: the kiosk.

Shubh: And you don't have

Lucas: time. And so it's jammed- Yeah ... because everybody's on the base fare. And then I like to show up for my flight, like eight seconds before the gate opens.

Shubh: Yeah. 100% with you. You know, y- okay, I didn't know that about Porter. I've had good- Yeah ... experiences flying them, but I didn't know that.

Lucas: Yeah. I, I, you know, if anyone from Porter wants to contact me, I've got some feedback. I would love to try them

Shubh: again, but- You know what, Porter? Mend this fence and then sponsor this pod.

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah,

Philippe: yeah. I missed a flight for this exact reason. Like, the, the, the, the f- the front gate, I didn't realize I didn't have a boarding pass, and so I went to the, the security entrance. Mm. They're like, "No, you need a boarding pass." So I went, and they closed the gate f- they closed the thing- Oh my gosh ... 45 minutes before.

Yeah. Yeah. So I didn't even [00:22:00] have the option. There was just no one there to help me. How'd you get

Lucas: on the plane?

Philippe: I didn't. I had to take another plane. Oh, you did miss it. Oh. I did miss

Shubh: it. Oh. I thought when he said, "How'd you get on the plane?" y- you were just gonna go, "I'm, I'm white."

Philippe: No.

Shubh: They just let me on.

They didn't tackle me and- White

Philippe: privilege

Lucas: in action ... what is this, what is this pod? Okay. I was already kinda feeling like this was a shooting squad the way this, like, for the listeners at home- Hey ... it's set up like they're about to...

Shubh: Uh, cull some geese?

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah.

Shubh: Okay, okay. Do, uh, couture, couture question.

Lucas: Yeah. So- Yeah ... so anyway, the prices are going up and up and up.

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: And it's, like, gotten to the point where, like, you know that backpack I bring to the offi- like, it's, like, just, like, a small Herschel bag. I will take the, like, that big motorcycle trip I did, I had a, I had a, uh, like a compression system for my- Yep

my clothes for a year, and it, like, got everything into... So I use that same thing. I'm able to, like, slip that into the bag. Yep. And, like, don't tell , but, like, sometimes when I've got, like, a little bit too much stuff like I did coming home yesterday, I, like, I can easily take that out, leave it on the chair, and then I'll go, and they'll confirm the size of the bag, and then I'll, like, [00:23:00] put the thing back.

Oh,

Philippe: that's perfect.

Lucas: Yeah. Brilliant. Like- Yeah ... you can take that to the bank. It, they, they'll never figure it out.

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: Well-

Lucas: Anyway, so yeah, yeah ...

Shubh: we'll just change to, uh-

Lucas: Yeah ...

Shubh: somewhat.

Lucas: I'm sure they're not listening. Other airline probably. Anyway, so you can steal that idea for free. But, um, anyway, these prices are going up, and, like, you can only take so many clothes.

Yeah. So, like, this trip that I was just on, I wound up having to extend. I was only gonna be there for three, four days. I wound up having to extend for, I was there eight days.

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: Like, you can't pack eight days of clothes-

Philippe: Yeah, yeah ...

Lucas: uh, into, you know- tiny little compression sets. Unless you're doing laundry.

So, so that's where I was, you know, really happy this came up 'cause I had no ideas for this, uh, pod. But this I actually think is a good idea.

Shubh: Yep.

Lucas: So it's called Couture Lend.

Shubh: Okay.

Lucas: So you partner with Airbnb, with hotels.

Shubh: This is a great idea.

Lucas: And it's for people like me who are flying all over the place, and you can't fit all your, your clothes into your bag anymore, so you just show up.

You get there, they know everything about, like, your, what sort of [00:24:00] attire you like to wear to work. Yeah. Which for me is, like jeans and a T-shirt, but, uh- Yeah ... you know, if you need something more fancy, maybe that's, like- Yeah ... the premium option. The clothes are just in the closet. Uh- When you

Shubh: get there. Wow.

This is a fucking brilliant idea.

Lucas: Yeah. You walk in, you wear the clothes for a week. You need a li- you know, you extend the trip, you got somebody to text, they top you up. Uh, and then when you gotta go, you just go. I would do this- You leave ...

Shubh: all the time.

Lucas: Yeah. You, like- Shoes ... can just carry your laptop onto the plane, you're good.

Shubh: You're going to a warm weather location maybe, and you've got some meetings. Yeah. You're taking runners, you're taking dress shoes- Yeah ... you're taking flip-flops, you're taking- Yeah ... you know?

Lucas: Exactly.

Philippe: You should, uh,

Shubh: this is incredible idea.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: There could also be an option where it's like, "If you like these clothes, you can also bring them- Oh

with you. Oh, that's interesting. And then we'll just automatically charge you for, like, the-

Lucas: This is an angle I hadn't even considered,

Shubh: like- They, and they keep them in a storage locker at the airport for you.

Philippe: No, they're not. Well,

Lucas: I think he means take them home.

Shubh: Yeah, when you get off, when you get off the plane, they hand you a little key for a storage locker.

Lucas: Yeah. So I love this idea because [00:25:00] I might have been building a financial model for this business on the plane ride home. No way. Yeah, 'cause they don't have internet on Flair Air- Airlines yet. So I was, like, in my Google Sheets in offline mode- You're just ... ... building a financial model- ... for how this is gonna work exactly.

'Cause I think it's actually a genuinely good idea.

Shubh: I think it's a brilliant idea. And- Celebries do this ...

Lucas: well, and so a, a hard thing about it is that, like, clothes are actually pretty expensive, but this solves the problem. You could partner with all these brands- Yeah ... and it could be, like, part of their marketing.

Shubh: Dude-

Philippe: Yeah ...

Shubh: you wear a shirt- Right ... and you're like, "Goddamn, I look good in this shirt." Yeah. I'm like, "You know"- Just take it home. And, and also, if you're going to, like, a thing, you know, you go to conferences and you need a jacket, and sometimes you need a couple because there's a couple days you might need it.

Yeah. You're packing two jack- like, two blazers? Come on, now.

Philippe: I would do this all the time. Like-

Shubh: I would do this, I would do this as well. Yeah.

Philippe: It, it, like, like, when I was going to Europe, like, oh my, like, just have the shit ready for me. 'Cause I'm not in love with my clothes. I don't necessarily- No ... and, and you pull them out, they're all wrinkled, so you hang them up right away, but they, you know, then I gotta spend some time ironing.

I

Shubh: keep telling you- Yeah ... you, you guys, you, we travel with kids. So when we travel with kids, [00:26:00] like travel to Europe, we gotta have laundry machines because we're not packing three weeks of stuff, right? Exactly. We're packing four days of stuff.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: But if I get to a place, I'm like, "Ooh."

Lucas: I will, I will help fund this business for whoever wants to start it.

Yeah. This is- On this recent trip, like, really- ... a

Shubh: genuinely good idea. Sorry, keep going.

Lucas: No, like it's, 'cause like, so when I've been packing so light, I'd, I, like, wear the blazer that I'm gonna wear the entire time I'm there. You know, I met with, like, the, a really g- great client of ours, Strive Capital. Met with them three times over the course of the week.

Yeah. I was wearing the same-

Philippe: Blazer ...

Lucas: blazer-

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah ...

Lucas: every time. And- And

Shubh: they still worked with you.

Lucas: Yeah. Well, uh, so far,

Shubh: yeah. It's what they- Do you think they talked about it after you left the meeting?

Lucas: Uh, they talked about it to me, actually. Oh, okay. That's where the story was going. They're like, "Bro." You

Shubh: Did you just turn it inside out the next day?

Philippe: I'm not jo- I'm not joking. This is how I would do most of my shopping is like- Oh,

Lucas: yeah ...

Philippe: put me in front of-

Shubh: All trying on. Yeah ...

Philippe: put me in front of a, a fully new wardrobe. I gotta try all these things. Like, I don't, honestly, like, shopping is so overwhelming to me.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Feel, I don't want any tri- Just fill [00:27:00] some stuff. I'll try it on, see if I like it. Yeah. And, um, it's- And

Lucas: it's curated. It's not even like- Yeah ... there's that. You get to, like, try it out, but, like, those outfits have been curated by someone who knows, like, what they're doing, which I do not. Right. And so you have that benefit as well.

Shubh: I don't, yeah. You know, remember Garth's idea, the T- taste.ai that would put, like, ideas together for what you, what to wear? That could feed into Lucas's, uh-

Philippe: Yeah. Could be AI.

Lucas: I didn't, I didn't hear that episode, sorry.

Shubh: No, I don't want to go into it. I hate to admit. No, it was- It's, it's complimentary to what you're saying.

Yeah, yeah. It's not-

Lucas: Let's, let's hear

Shubh: it. Yeah.

Philippe: Uh, I think Taste was, um-

Shubh: It's like you're building your own taste profile.

Philippe: Yeah. You basically have, like, an AI agent that would go, like, um, okay, um, uh- I, I wanna dress like Jacob Elordi. And it would be like- No ... these are the things that are in my closet. And it would, um, and it would, like, choose outfits for you to-

Lucas: AI's actually pretty good at this.

Yeah. Like, I'm a little color blind, and I'll take, like, a photo of myself in the mirror with an outfit and be like, "Oh, does this look... Like, are these [00:28:00] colors that actually go together?" It's incredible.

Philippe: Yeah. It is, yeah, it is strange.

Shubh: I, I don't know what's going on. We got two, we got two-

Philippe: None of this episode is recording.

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah. That was all my best stuff.

Shubh: Yeah. Yeah. Uh, we... That's the problem with using two laptops now.

Philippe: Um, no, this is brilliant. But, um, you, you've run the financial models. What does it have to look like? Yeah. Like, what are the-

Lucas: Well, I think you just solved the, I just, I think you just solved the missing piece 'cause you gotta amortize the clothes over a certain number of wears.

Philippe: Right.

Lucas: Uh, and it just gets tricky to... 'Cause I was trying to, like, target, okay, it's gonna be cheaper than-

Philippe: Yes ...

Lucas: getting even a carry-on, let alone a, a checked piece of luggage. Yeah. Oh. And you can like, you can just about get there assuming a certain number of wears for each garment. Mm. But if you had the ability to partner with brands, and you had the ability to sell the, the, the garment potentially, you know, in what you were describing, I mean, this is a lock.

Like, I think the margins, you know, I'd, I'll rerun the numbers. We can, we can, we can, you know. Yeah, yeah. Uh, but I think, you know, your gross margins would be 30, 40% [00:29:00] easy. Well,

Shubh: but I actually- Yeah ... think it can, it can easily be more expensive than just the carry-on or the checked bag fee because of, to Phil's point about the convenience.

Like, the shit- Yeah ... shit's ir- ironed already, you know? Like, it's been hanging up. I hate that when I- Yeah,

Lucas: you gotta factor in, like, the dry cleaning costs and-

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: Yeah. It's brilliant.

Philippe: I know, uh-

Shubh: And you could, you could just sign up for, for a year if you're a frequent traveler,

Philippe: you know? I, I actually know a girl who runs a dry cleaning company out of Toronto.

Lucas: Really?

Philippe: Yeah. Ooh. Gibson's. Gibson's Dry Cleaning. Her name is Lanley. She, her Instagram is Laundry with Lanley, I'm pretty sure.

Lucas: Does she sponsor the pod? Like, what's happening right now?

Shubh: Dude. Does she sponsor, does she sponsor Tech Thursday and not this pod?

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, sounds like maybe.

Philippe: We were kind of brainstorming a couple of, like, fun ideas she could do to, like, make dry cleaning cool.

Yeah. This is a great idea. She would be an awesome partner. It's

Lucas: a brilliant

Shubh: idea. Yeah.

Lucas: Some I, I, I... Something else I like about your, like, just leave with it, uh, idea is I think it used to be true that there would be, like, a stigma around that, right? Like, oh, these clothes have been, like, used and worn. [00:30:00] But, like, all my favorite stores now are vintage stores.

Yeah. Yeah. Like, we should give flowers to that, that one shop in, uh, in Englewood. Like, the... Do you know what it's called? The, like, the really, really nice- Uh, Genuine?

Shubh: Hey, can we just stop mentioning companies' names unless they're gonna fucking sponsor us?

Philippe: You are the king of that.

Shubh: No,

Lucas: give these guys, you know, give these guys some free advertising.

Okay. Is it called

Philippe: Genuine or something?

Lucas: You know, I, I was just hoping you would just confidently say the name. Yeah. 'Cause I've never actually looked at the sign. It would

Shubh: be better to give them airtime if we knew what the store was called.

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah.

Shubh: And we can't touch that computer 'cause it keeps farting.

Uh, so we'll give the- Yeah ... Phil's computer a drizzle. I, I, but I

Philippe: do like those guys. They're nice. Yeah,

Shubh: they're great. Uh,

Lucas: yeah, if you're at

Shubh: a vintage store in Englewood.

Lucas: So I don't think, I don't think there's, I don't think there's any stigma about that anymore. I think- Yeah ... I think people would be fine to wear, uh, you know, clothes that have been worn once or twice

Philippe: Totally.

Yeah. I, I mean, I would like, yeah, why not?

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Especially jeans. They're a little worn in already.

Shubh: Totally.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: That's what you want. Uh,

Shubh: suit jackets.

Lucas: Yeah, everything.

Shubh: It's all the bulky stuff too, right? Exactly. It's the jackets. I like what you said

Lucas: about shoes.

Shubh: That's- It's the shoes.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah, and the other nice thing would be, like, let's say, uh, uh...

Let's say I'm like, "You know, I [00:31:00] like, I like seven of these things. I'd like to take them home."

Lucas: Mm-hmm.

Shubh: But there's a little, uh, a little shipping box that comes- Really? ... and it just gets- Mm ... dumped in and, and, uh, arrives via Purolator, Canada Post.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Maybe you could request that. You, yeah. Yeah. But you would do it...

You wouldn't even have to-

Shubh: Because it's not just the pa- Sorry, just not just paying for the, the extra bag. It's the hauling it around, right?

Philippe: Yeah. You know? That's also super interesting. Yeah.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: I-

Lucas: That's- If

Philippe: you could travel without a bag ever.

Lucas: Should we do this? Like, should we just- I kinda- Have we talked about this enough?

Like, can we just- It

Philippe: kinda- Can we just start this

Lucas: business? The 75 Salsas. Pinch, get... Shut up. This

Shubh: is the- It is ... 75 Salsa idea.

Lucas: No,

Philippe: you

Lucas: guys.

Shubh: This is a great, brilliant- We didn't rate the goose idea. This one is a 75 Salsa idea.

Lucas: So not that I'm gonna, um- The goose idea- ... talk to him about it as soon as I leave this room, how many salsas did Salsa score get?

Shubh: Uh, well, he technically wasn't scored, but he would,

Lucas: in retrospect- Ah, infinite salsas ... have

Shubh: gotten-

Philippe: Infinite salsas. I

Shubh: mean, he invented the score. It's one of the top- Yeah, it's at least

Lucas: 75.

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: The goose idea, I'll rate it. It's 75 goose, as in I'm- ... I'm killing [00:32:00] 75 goose on day one. Come here.

Lucas: Guess, guess we're not cutting it.

Guess we're not

Shubh: cutting it. Phil likes to do this thing where he makes it really, really difficult for me to edit an episode.

Philippe: Hey, come here, goose. It would be bad. No, you don't wanna see me on goose day.

Shubh: Yeah, actually- Yeah ... Canada Goose would benefit both of these.

Lucas: You just, you just show up in your, like, entire, like, outfit made of, like-

old goose feathers that you And

Shubh: you, and you- Now you

Philippe: have their wings ... did you

Shubh: tell Lucas, uh, did you show Lucas the man chap yet? No, you haven't seen it.

Philippe: No, I could s- What's this? Yeah.

Shubh: So my bud- Pip's Lips? ... Matt came on. He iterated on, on Pip's Lips with big, giant... He made these from scratch. Yeah. Big, giant, uh, uh, uh, lip chap, um, uh- Called

Philippe: Man Chap

Shubh: called Man Chap. Yeah. And the two flavors. Flavors? What... Flavors? That he made so far, smoked elk is one, and beer and gun smoke is the other.

Philippe: And

Shubh: they smell okay. And the beer and gun smoke- They smell

Philippe: okay, the gun smoke.

Lucas: Beer and gun smoke smells amazing. I've-

Shubh: It smells legitimately- Yeah ... as Phil described.

You said it smelt like you were inside the barrel of a gun.

Lucas: Yeah. If you don't like that [00:33:00] smell, I d- just something's wrong with you.

Philippe: Yeah. So you could have that on your lips at all time. Are you suggesting that goose is another one?

Shubh: No, no, I'm just- I'm- ... I'm just saying man- Goose pads ...

Lucas: game birds don't smell great.

Shubh: I'm saying we- Just FYI. I'm saying- ... at the goose birds, we could probably sell a lot of man craft is what I'm saying.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Oh, I

Shubh: see.

Lucas: Yeah. I saw, I was on- On goose

Philippe: day ...

Lucas: uh, was it an ice cream shop the other day? And-

Shubh: Oh, we could call it wild goose chase.

Philippe: Oh. That's really good.

Shubh: Shove. Ah, damn it, now I'm leaving it in.

Lucas: Yeah. Can't cut it now. That's so good.

Philippe: As soon as Shubh's in on the joke, then you can't cut it.

Lucas: Yeah. Just, just,

Shubh: just real clear to everybody, we are not advocating for any sort of animal cruelty.

Lucas: Yeah. PETA's pretty loose with the litigation. I think they're gonna be calling you. Sorry. Sorry. Shubh's stressed enough.

I don't know why I said that. I don't know why I said that. It's- But anyway, so I was at this ice cream store. This is a comedy podcast. They had an ice cream flavor, uh, grouse and honey.

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: It's like they've never tasted grouse. Yeah. Clearly, 'cause it's terrible.

Philippe: Is this Made by Marcus? I'd bet it is.

Lucas: Uh, it was some random [00:34:00] place in Toronto.

Philippe: Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Made by Marcus always having the grousiest shit.

Shubh: I, you

Lucas: know, I have to-

Shubh: The grousiest shit. Can I make a commentary on ice cream for a second? We went through this pizza phase where people start, thought it was cool to put whatever they wanted on pizza.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: I feel like we're going through a similar phase with ice cream right now.

There's too much- Mm. There's too much.

Lucas: I disagree.

Philippe: You're into pad Thai i- ice cream? Yeah.

Lucas: Is that a thing? Does Made by Marcus have that right now?

Philippe: Yeah. I'm just- No, maybe not right now, but they had it before.

Lucas: Really?

Philippe: Saying there's too- Yeah.

Lucas: Did you try it? There's

Shubh: too-

Philippe: I did ...

Shubh: there's too many ice creams.

Lucas: Are you saying it was bad?

Philippe: Yeah, I didn't li- I didn't like it. It was pad Thai.

Lucas: I mean, two of your favorite things. I mean, I like tiger ice cream, and that's a pretty unpopular opinion, so.

Philippe: Uh, tiger ice cream is great, though.

Lucas: Really?

Philippe: I love

Lucas: it. You are the first person other than my nephews that I've ever met- Yeah ... that like tiger ice cream.

Oh.

Philippe: No way.

Lucas: Yeah. I don't know how I didn't know that about you. We should- One

Shubh: of my nephews- We should go get- ... one of my kids likes tiger ice cream.

Lucas: Really?

Shubh: That's the orange one with the licorice in it.

Lucas: I figured there's gotta be people out there. Like, every time I get it- You can get it ... people give me shit, and then, like, it's still there, and, like, I'm not the only one eating out of this giant tub of ice cream.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Lucas: This is very [00:35:00] validating, thank you.

Shubh: Uh, I think it should be very validating.

Lucas: Yeah. I have other ideas. Yeah,

Philippe: yeah. Yeah,

Lucas: yeah. Let's go through them. Yeah. It's, it's, it's very- I, I, I can't thank you two enough for the perfect sals- scores on, on, uh- No, we gotta

Shubh: thank us.

Lucas: Yeah. Thank

Shubh: you. We don't hand that shit out willy-nilly.

You-

Lucas: Yeah,

Oh, this one's not so good actually. How much more time do we have, Ed? My other ideas are shit, so- We're

Philippe: at 35 minutes- Yeah, yeah ... so, so we actually do have quite a bit of time.

Lucas: Oh. Well, let's go back to the Quidditch one. We should probably- I love this ... milk that for a

Shubh: couple more minutes. I love this. I love this. This is, uh, you know- You know what? Just give us a couple time fillers. What do you got?

Lucas: Yeah. Okay, yeah. So rapid round? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Rapid fire. So my flight home was, uh, delayed because someone had forgotten to close the door to the plane overnight.

Oh my God. And there had been a massive rainstorm. Like, how does that happen?

Philippe: I over- I overheard you tell this story yesterday in the office, and it makes so much more sense that you were flying Flair now.

Lucas: Don't you dare. Don't you dare. It really, really does. Don't you [00:36:00] dare. I love Flair Airlines.

Philippe: I'm just gonna say with, uh, with just closing the door.

Yeah, yeah,

Shubh: yeah.

Lucas: Okay.

Shubh: I will say I flew Flair once.

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: And that was the only time I flew Flair.

Philippe: Flair was- Yeah ... Flair was like, "We should, uh, we should really let this airplane breathe." "It kinda stinks in here."

Lucas: Yeah. You know, look, it doesn't smell great when the carpet's been soaking for 12 hours. Like...

Shubh: The last, the last page of the manual just fell out, and on it was, "Don't forget to close the door."

Yeah. That's the

Lucas: window. So, so I think, I think you don't even need that anymore. Like, I know, I know the Ranger definitely doesn't have this feature, your truck. Yeah. Uh, Shubh, maybe, maybe your vehicle's less than- I got a couple Toyotas ... less than 20. Okay. So I also drive a Toyota. Yeah. Really cool feature, uh, their app will notify me- Oh, I don't have that

if I leave a door open. Oh, wow. It will notify, it'll be like, "Oh, you should check the backseat. Like, your kid's back there or something."

Shubh: Yeah. So you're suggesting a, uh, for the, for the folks on the ground who work with the airlines-

Lucas: I think it should go straight to the CEO. Like, just- Right ... it's an app for one.

[00:37:00] Like, no, I'm just kidding. But, like, yeah. Like, how is this not a solved thing? Like, there should be, there should be, like, the, somebody's getting a notification if the plane's still running and then everybody's walked off. You know? Like...

Shubh: Yeah.

Philippe: That's true.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: I also, like, shouldn't the door just close itself at some point?

Lucas: These are all good ideas. Like, we're, everybody's so worried about, like, autonomous flying, it's like we've got a few steps to go before that's gonna

Philippe: be possible. Yeah. Wait, how expensive are those assets, though? Like, you're right that it should go right to the CEO of, like, the C- 'cause, uh, Flare's gotta have- Tens of millions

Shubh: of dollars

Philippe: Flare's gotta only have a fleet of, like, 15 planes.

Shubh: Well, Flare,

Lucas: Flare, yeah- Well, that's the other thing. We could have got a plane. Flare- Like, I'm not advocating for grand larceny, but I mean- Yeah, could have got ... it's a, it's a plane- ... that you could just walk on.

Shubh: Could we, could we, could we, can we be honest, uh, Flare?

Grand larceny. Flare might get their planes from, uh, like, the, the same store that sells you guys your vintage clothes.

Lucas: I will not tolerate any

Shubh: more negative talk about Flare on

Lucas: this podcast.

Shubh: Like, like a plane, just plane. Hey, they've just leaned into a business model, which is, uh, hey, we can get these, you know, gently used planes [00:38:00] and, uh, you know.

Philippe: Yeah, yeah. Flare, Flare, the CEO of Flare flies on a WestJet. That's like the fleet that's, like, really old and that is like, "You know, I could keep this."

Lucas: I would actually argue that Flare is nicer than WestJet. Last time I was on a WestJet flight, my- like, I'm not even that tall, right?

Shubh: Yeah,

Lucas: they, they- And I'm sitting, I'm sitting up perfectly straight, and my knees are, like-

Shubh: They did that

Lucas: thing

pressed into the, into the- Oh,

Shubh: yeah, yeah ... the front of it. They walked that back, right? They did the, they did the planes, and they squeezed all the seats together. Yeah. And everybody's like, "What the hell?"

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Anyway, it, there's no fun airlines to fly.

Lucas: Flare Flare. You're that big of a fan. I'm a huge fan.

Listen, like I wouldn't... Yeah, I mean, they're, they're so cheap. It's so good. Everyone's so nice. I sat next to this great guy, Buck, on the flight yesterday. Shout out Buck, if you're listening.

Shubh: Oh, Buck-

Lucas: Great, like- ... feels like he'd be into ManChap. He, he was r- He would love ManChap. Yeah. He was, you know- Yo ... a real farmer from Ontario, knew everything.

Like, he just got drones to, like, do something I didn't fully understand on his, uh- Oh ... his field. I just loved hanging out

Philippe: with this guy. It's me and Buck on Goose Day.

Lucas: Yeah, you're not- We're gonna- Oh, no, Buck's on my team for [00:39:00] sure. Oh, shit. Buck is on my team. That guy knows what he's doing with the news.

Yeah, yeah. Anyway, so, uh, Buck's

Shubh: gonna lose the two of you in the forest.

Lucas: Yeah. But yeah, you're not meeting Buck on WestJet.

Philippe: That's true. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. Okay. Yeah. All right.

Shubh: You're meeting Brad on WestJet.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: So the idea is an app that texts the CEO.

Shubh: Actually, hold

Lucas: on. When Lucas and Phil are about to- Can we expand this?

gank that plane. Can we ex- Can

Shubh: we-

Philippe: You're in cat pajamas walking up to that plane. Hold

Shubh: on, hold on. Just hold on. Can we expand the scope of this? So now- Yeah, we should ... I love the idea of the plane notification. I like the idea of notifying the CEO of a major multinational company when something really dumb happens immediately via app.

'Cause what happens this, by the time the CEO gets the message, it's been sanitized- Yeah ... and been politicized by all the different, uh, business units.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Um, uh, you know, an immediate email to the CEO that's like- Yeah ... "Hey, uh, somebody just accidentally posted this- ... on socials. Hey."

Lucas: I, I think they got enough [00:40:00] stress.

Do you mind if I take this in the complete opposite direction? Yeah,

Shubh: yeah, please.

Lucas: So this is an idea for Posthog. You know, big fan. Shout out to Posthog. Sorry, sh-

Shubh: No, our, our working theory is if we mention the company- Yeah ... somebody will hear it and go, "Fuck, this is a good product."

Lucas: I bet you Will from Posthog is listening to this right now.

Hey, Will- He's a good dude ...

Shubh: from

Lucas: Posthog. Yeah, Will from Posthog, uh, first, a product idea for them.

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: Uh, so you, you've both probably experienced this where, like, you know, your support line isn't exactly ringing off the hook with people just trying to tell you how great of a job you're doing.

Shubh: Yeah, you come

Lucas: to the

Shubh: podcast for that shit.

Lucas: Yeah. That's right. That's right. Apparently. Now I know. Yeah. I'll be here next week. Um, you know, you get a lot of bad news through the, through the support line.

Shubh: Yep.

Lucas: Uh, well, I think Posthog should, uh, plummet into their system where, like, every time something good happens- Yeah ... you get a notification. Okay.

Like, we'll be all... Like, I'll be meeting with, with, with, you know, like we were meeting with a, a new lender this week, and they're like, "Oh my God, I just, like, met with all these brokers," and they're saying like, "Oh, how great your, you know, peer lend is." I'm just like, "Really? Like, who are they?" Yeah. "Introduce me."[00:41:00]

Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So I just want, like, some, like, plumbing to just get that dopamine hit. Oh,

Shubh: we should actually- Oh, that's great ... literally talk about this. Like, I have a concept of something that's Anyway, we'll, we, we'll take this off-

Lucas: What is it, private?

Shubh: It's a,

Lucas: it's a- What is the, what is the- It's, it's ge- Remind me again the concept of this, of this podcast.

Shubh: It's, it's, it's genuine- ... genuinely a little proprietary.

Lucas: Oh, is it?

Shubh: Genuinely.

Philippe: Oh, keeping the cards a little close to your chest. For

Shubh: once in

Lucas: my life- I told you about the goose thing.

Shubh: That's the very first time in my life I have not told someone exactly what I'm thinking.

Philippe: That's not true. Okay. One time you were about to start a story about how you broke your arm in, in playing football your first, your first down.

Yeah. And then you said, "That's too embarrassing." Let's get that story.

Shubh: I broke my arm playing football. First, uh, first catch. If Phil really wants to hear this story, it's not that good a story. Uh, high school football, I was a soccer player.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Uh, my buddies played football. The guy who was the kicker was like, "I don't wanna kick anymore."

They were like, "Hey, Shubh, why don't you come kick?" So I was like, "Okay. [00:42:00] I can kick a football, I think." I mean, in high school football- ... in the late '90s, you'd kick three times a game, basically. Right. Right. Uh, so I went out and did some kicking. A coach comes out and he's like, uh, "Hey, can you get the kickers off the field?

We have to, you know..." That's how... There was not a lot of, uh, attention being paid to the kicking. Yeah. They're like, uh, and they were like, "Well, why don't you just run some, uh, run some drills with the receivers?" And I was like, "Okay." So, and this is a true story, uh, quarterback throws it behind me, and I reach back with my hand, tip it up in the air, and catch it.

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Whoa, that's

Shubh: sick. I was a fairly coordinated fellow. I

Lucas: thought this was an embarrassing story.

Shubh: Hold on, it gets there.

Philippe: Yeah.

Shubh: Then I,

Philippe: then, then- Who, who, who wears, uh, 13 on the New York Giants? Um-

Shubh: Don't know the answer.

Philippe: A breach bag like one, three. Like one, three. Uh-

Shubh: So, uh, so they're like, "Okay, well, why don't you, in addition to kicking, uh, why don't you play some wide receiver?"

And I was like, "Uh, okay. Yeah, sure."

Lucas: Yeah. "

Shubh: Uh, I like sports." Uh, we do practice. I, uh, we run this screen pass for me. I break it for, like, [00:43:00] 100 yards, ba- literally, and I was like the-

Philippe: Wow.

Shubh: So they're like, "We're gonna run that play." First, uh, we- In a

Philippe: game?

Shubh: First weekend of the year you play, like, these mini games.

It's like a tournament. First game they run that play to me. Fucking end zone is 10 yards in front of me. It's wide open, fellas. You know when you watch the guys on TV and you see their eyes go to the end zone? And, and the announcer's like, "Well, he didn't watch the ball all the way into his hands."

Lucas: Oh, no.

Shubh: Ball goes through my hands, hits me in the chest, goes on the ground. The quarterback who was a, he was a salty fella

Philippe: Oh.

Shubh: Uh, next game we're just like, "Shub, we're gonna run that same play." Grabs me by the face mask and says, "Fucking catch it this time."

Philippe: Wow.

Shubh: I was like, "Okay." That's

Philippe: pretty serious.

Lucas: People say I'm intense at work-

Shubh: Pretty-

you

Lucas: know what I mean?

Shubh: That's- Yeah. Pretty, that's pretty direct. So I make this catch.

Philippe: You also have your team wearing face masks, right?

Shubh: Yeah. If you do that.

Philippe: So I get grabbed. Hey, smarten up.

Shubh: And if he's not, he just grabs him by the tongue. Whatever he can get his hands on. Yeah. Uh, so [00:44:00] then he- Maybe the ear

throws me this pass. I, I run for nine yards, get tackled. Uh, sort of roll over. I was like, "Oh, something doesn't feel right." And I look down and I have two elbows on my left arm. Oh, fuck. That's unfortunate. So I broke my humerus. Yeah. And that was the end of my football career.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: One catch, nine yards.

Lucas: Do you think you would've gone all the way?

Shubh: Uh, o- on that particular run?

Lucas: No, I mean to, like, the NFL.

Shubh: Uh, no, let's just say I lacked muscle-

Lucas: Mm ...

Shubh: on, uh, any part of my upper body.

Lucas: Mm-hmm.

Shubh: Uh, which, uh, would've... I mean, I got- I broke my arm getting tackled.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: My humerus, which is a very difficult bone to break. So, uh, the, uh, the thing is, uh, yeah, that, that was it.

I still feel it, too. Damn. It's been 30 fucking years.

Lucas: Broken bones, man.

Shubh: Yeah. Anyway, that's the story you were waiting so long to hear, Philippe. Are you fucking happy?

Philippe: Pretty humiliating. But at least- ... I'm glad I got that out so that you can keep your level- Yeah, we

Shubh: didn't have a Quidditch team in high school,

Philippe: so.

So you can keep your sanity. Did you,

Lucas: did you play Quidditch? Yeah.

Philippe: I lit up like, "Oh, someone

Lucas: did Quidditch." Oh [00:45:00] my God, he doesn't know. It would be literally impossible- Yeah ... for me to have known you this long and not know

Shubh: you were,

Lucas: known you were the captain of the Quidditch team.

Shubh: That's, that's the first three pages of Philippe's-

LinkedIn profile.

Lucas: Yes. It's

Shubh: like, in year one, I played this position. Uh, then I got the call to play, to be seeker. What were

Lucas: you,

Shubh: the bludger?

Philippe: Uh, I was a chaser.

Shubh: Oh, yeah, classic.

Lucas: I was going for the quick joke here, fellas.

Philippe: Yeah. What- What's the first idea on your list that you're- Oh ... you're gonna get canceled over?

Lucas: Wow.

Philippe: We can cut it at this point. We, we got-

Lucas: Oh, okay. Are you

Shubh: throwing that we around?

Lucas: Yeah. Correct. Okay, perfect. Yeah. Well, I, you know, of all the episodes that, uh, y- you have done, the one that inspired me most to action was Jesus Plus.

Philippe: Oh, yeah.

Shubh: So

Lucas: good. Yeah, absolutely. So- Oh, Jesus ... uh, I think honestly, that, that- Did I do that?

that domain name is, is going to fund my retirement. Yeah, yeah. I, you know, for, for anyone that I haven't had the opportunity to say this to yet, I actually now own the domain name- Yeah ... jesus.plus.

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: And built, you know, built the whole thing and-

Shubh: Yeah, you did it. Uh- Was that Lovable? What'd you build that in?

Lucas: Uh, Cursor.

Shubh: Cursor? [00:46:00]

Lucas: Yeah.

Philippe: Yeah, if, like, for those listening, go check out jesus.plus. It's hilarious. Yeah. It's, like, my favorite landing page ever.

Shubh: Yeah. And also, uh, while you're there, buy me some prayers, uh, in advance of this thing that- Yeah,

Lucas: sign up for the waiting list ...

Shubh: pitch. Yeah.

Lucas: So the thing I love most about that episode was, uh, the surge pricing.

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: I think that surge pricing is an underutilized mechanic in, in our economy. It's just- I think it's just not, you know, like-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Lucas: there's certain things that shouldn't cost the same at- Yeah ... different times of day. It's like the

Shubh: opposite of what Flair does.

Lucas: Like, like, for, for couture land, you know- Yeah ... if you, you know, if you're flying over Christmas and you've forgotten your ugly sweater, like, that's- Yeah ... that's gonna cost you. That's a

Shubh: premium. Okay.

Lucas: That's a premium-

Shubh: Yep ...

Lucas: thing. I think there's all sorts of day to day, day to day items that shouldn't cost the same at 2:00 PM versus 2:00 AM.

Shubh: Give us an, give us some examples. I mean, we already do it for taxis.

Philippe: I'm, I'm chickening out. I'm chickening out.

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: But, uh, yeah, just kinda, just [00:47:00] kinda. No, I'm joking.

Shubh: No, no, no. I like this idea. Let's do... Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Before you say anything. Let's-

Lucas: I was really hoping that Phil was gonna jump in ... let's- 'Cause have we not talked about this idea? I was hoping he

Shubh: was gonna jump in with it

let, let, let's do this. Can we do the sanitized version of this for my benefit?

Lucas: Nah, none of them are funny if it's sanitized.

Shubh: I... We can find some funny stuff.

Lucas: Okay. Yeah, give me.

Shubh: Uh, a b- ban- bananas before a marathon. Oh.

Lucas: This sucks.

Shubh: Hold on. I'm not done yet. An apple on the... An app, an ap, an app.

Philippe: What? No.

No. To

Shubh: be fair to Philippe, that's also what I thought.

Lucas: Guys, I'll never forgive you if you cut this.

Shubh: You'll never forgive me if I cut this or if I don't- If

Lucas: you do not cut this, I will never forgive

Shubh: you. Oh, if I do not cut it. I'll cut that part out for sure. Okay. Cut- Hold on. Bananas for a marathon.

Lucas: To be clear, that wasn't what I was getting

Shubh: at.

Apple- apples on the [00:48:00] first day of school.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: You know, te- teachers. Give an apple to your teacher.

Philippe: That's good.

Shubh: Uh, hold on a sec. I'm not done. Um-

Philippe: Well, have, have you heard of these bars that are, uh, stock market bars? What? So, uh, sorry. Drinks of... Prices of drinks will go up based on demand.

Lucas: Oh. Yeah, I have. So- I've been to a brewery with that.

Shubh: Wait, what do you mean?

Philippe: Yeah. How? So there's just a constant ticker of demand for, for example, like an IPA. Uh, so a, a- So they've

Shubh: invented Lucas's idea. Well-

Philippe: Well,

Lucas: I think Uber was the one to

Shubh: pioneer it, but- Yeah, that's

Lucas: true. Right.

Philippe: But, like, if, if everyone's getting an IPA or a Guinness-

Lucas: Yeah ...

Philippe: then the price of Guinness goes up.

Lucas: And as there's, like, less and less IPA

Shubh: available. You know what? I would do so well- Yeah ... because I drink super light beer, so nobody wants Michelob Ultra, so I'd be just like-

Philippe: I think people love Michelob Ultra.

Shubh: Goddammit. Fuck.

Philippe: Yeah. You're out of luck. Vodka cran- What

Shubh: about for food? ...

Philippe: really too.

Shubh: Like, uh, the food at the restaurant.

You know, if everybody's ordering the burger and they're like, "Oh, we- we're gonna run out of beef," right? I'll be like, "I'll pay double."

Philippe: I mean, I feel like that's [00:49:00] really what it should be, right? Like, um, the, the price of food-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Philippe: is based on how expensive the food item is, but if they're sitting on, like, 20 steaks back there and they're almost out of salmon, well, they should make the steaks cheaper to sell them before they go bad.

Lucas: You know how they keep talking about, like- ... the people are gonna rise up because- ... you know, shit's just getting too expensive? Yeah. Yeah. They're gonna use this podcast as-

Shubh: Yeah ...

Lucas: like, the reason why. Remember the

Shubh: Occupy

Lucas: Movement? Like, this is what people who believe in capitalism are thinking.

Yeah. Turns out everyone doesn't love surge pricing-

Shubh: Yeah, I think- ...

Lucas: on Uber.

Shubh: I, I gotta tell you, I, I do actually not- You think- ... like surge pricing i- at, on Uber.

Lucas: You don't like it?

Shubh: I don't like it.

Lucas: This isn't surprising, yeah.

Shubh: Uh, as a consumer, I don't like it.

Lucas: Yeah, but if you had Ube- Uber shares, you'd be like, "This is it."

Shubh: I don't know.

Philippe: Do you think we would be the symbol? We would be like a symbol of the antithesis of the rebellion. Like the rebellion would-

Lucas: Based on this conversation [00:50:00] alone- Yeah, yeah ... yeah, yeah, definitely. Like- You were just like, "You know, this is a great idea. Steaks- Yeah ... they should cost more when people want them."

Shubh: Yeah. These, these motherfuckers are out here talking about surge- Right ... surge

Lucas: pricing. What, what do you mean, Phil? Um- Goddamn

Shubh: local CEOs of tech companies-

Lucas: Yeah, exactly ...

Shubh: think things should be more expensive. Uh, I like the bananas before a marathon idea.

Lucas: Yeah. That was my favorite one of those listed, for sure.

Shubh: Uh, bana- bananathon.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Marinana.

Philippe: Yeah.

Lucas: My favorite part about this podcast, actually, is how you guys, like, draw out the podcast after- Great, we could- ... the last idea is done. So let's, let's quickly rate that idea, and, and I, I'm looking forward to the next 20 minutes. Uh-

Shubh: I'm gonna give your surge pricing idea a 48 salsas.

Lucas: That's shockingly high.

Philippe: Okay. Because-

Shubh: Yeah,

Philippe: that is shockingly high. That's

Lucas: a bad idea ... bad idea.

Shubh: Because- Because... No, no, I'm not gonna give... Sir, I'm not... Just hold. Can I finish? Uh, the actual business concept I don't love.

Lucas: Okay.

Shubh: But I do love the reaction that it elicited from [00:51:00] Philip and you- Yeah. ... in the room, and I...

That's gonna be a good memory for me. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm giving the memory of this idea- The f- ... the future memory of this idea 48 salsa.

Lucas: Oh.

Shubh: Well- But going out on the- The business idea itself, I'm giving 12.

Lucas: Yeah, that, fair score.

Philippe: Yeah, I l- like, um, I don't even understand where you're going with it, 'cause you had some, like, really nefarious idea that I actually don't understand what, what it is.

I'm sure you'll tell me after we cut. Yeah. Of like- Is

Shubh: it cocaine?

Philippe: I don't... Maybe coke. Coke should be more expensive than- No,

Lucas: it's things you can buy in a pharmacy. Yeah.

Philippe: Oh, I see. Oh. Oh.

Lucas: Well, I just think, what was that guy's name that, like, made the, the drugs more expensive and everybody hates him?

Shubh: Oh, yeah.

The Valeant? Vale-

Lucas: I think he was really onto something.

Shubh: The guy that- Yeah,

Philippe: yeah. The

Shubh: guy who made the EpiPen for

Lucas: children. Yeah. Did he really, actually? Is that one of the... Oh,

Shubh: yeah.

Lucas: Oh. That's so fat.

Shubh: You... I, I think the guy's name- Just so everybody's clear, this, this podcast- It's the

Lucas: guy that looks like, with the pointy ears and, like, everybody-

Shubh: This is a comedy podcast.

It's satire.

Lucas: Oh, yeah. That's... Thank you for saying that. I'm just making

Shubh: sure everybody understands.

Philippe: That's [00:52:00] right. We're not actually advocating for-

Shubh: We're not advocating for- Yeah ... prescription medicine to be more expensive.

Philippe: Anyway, yeah, it's a b- It's a- It's like a, it's a- Yeah, terrible idea ...

Lucas: terrible

Philippe: salsa idea.

Yeah, yeah,

Shubh: yeah. But, uh, that's with, that's with surge pricing.

Philippe: Yeah. So

Lucas: that's exactly right. You have to give a score right now, so it's higher.

Shubh: Yeah, yeah.

Philippe: Well, thanks for coming, Luke.

Lucas: Yeah, guys, I was really

Shubh: happy. I think you, uh, you crushed it. Oh, thank you. I'm keeping all of it. Yeah. Except the one part.

Lucas: I think, I think we should, I think we should definitely do the Coutureland idea.

Philippe: That's... I think we

Shubh: should. That's actually a really good idea. I think it's a genuinely, genuinely terrific idea.

Lucas: We should raise a bunch of VC money so they can subsidize my wardrobe. Yeah.

Shubh: Yeah. And I think- These are business expenses ... the go-to-market is so clear- Yeah ... 'cause there's an easy pa- partnering opportunity, right?

Lucas: Yeah. I love it. Like, the brands-

Shubh: Hotels.

Lucas: Airbnbs ... the hotels, the Airbnb- BRBO ... like, everybody gets a cut. Yeah.

Shubh: Hot-

Lucas: People are gonna love it

Shubh: Expedia. I'm just saying travel company names.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Flair. Eh, I don't know what kind of clothes you'd get.

Philippe: Paper bags.

Lucas: Or where they go.

Shubh: Actually, there's [00:53:00] probably a bunch of clothes stuck in the bottom of the planes they buy.

Lucas: I'd be so angry if it was like this, this whole thing was to solve the lack of overhead space in the, in the plane, and then now it all gets taken up by other people's clothes- ... 'cause they're the partner. I would, I'd be furious.

Shubh: Oh,

Philippe: all the clothes you get from Flair have been left in an airplane with the door open overnight.

They're just soaking wet.

Shubh: Yeah. Lucas, thank you again. Uh, again, I'll reiterate, if you are, uh, doing loan origination, particularly mortgages of any kind, you need to talk to Pure Lend. You know what? If you're getting a mortgage from your broker-

Lucas: I got a mortgage guy ...

Shubh: or your bank, uh, you know what you need to ask them?

"Hey, are you guys using Pure Lend?" And then when they say no, uh, send them to the website.

Lucas: Yeah. You know, we're, I, I, the big, the big plug, if I, if I may. Yes, you may. Uh, we're hiring. Like, we're, we're really excited about building this company here in Calgary. Give us

Shubh: those roles one more time.

Lucas: And so the roles that we're hiring for, like, A, if you're just, like, an exceptional generalist and just [00:54:00] really love building, you should reach out even if you don't see, uh, something specific.

Shubh: Yeah, we love generalists.

Lucas: Uh, yeah, we do. And, uh, other than that, all the open roles right now are for, for engineering roles.

Shubh: Yep.

Lucas: Uh, so across product design, UX, software eng. Like, if you've got, uh, you know, a background in engineering and go really deep in any one of those areas- Yep ... we definitely wanna talk to you.

Shubh: Yeah. Nerds, you wanna work at a company that's actually making money? Nerds?

Lucas: That's almost entirely staffed by other nerds, yeah.

Shubh: Yeah.

Lucas: Pretty great.

Shubh: And you might get to come on this podcast.

Philippe: You get to share an office with me.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Well, we'll cut that part out.

Lucas: Yeah.

Shubh: Thanks again, Lucas.

Lucas: Yeah, my pleasure, guys.

Shubh: That's a wrap.

Philippe: Boom.

Lucas: This is a presentation of Indian Dad

Shubh: Media in association with

Lucas: This is a

Philippe: Thursday Media [00:55:00] production.
